At least you got some nice new gear
You can show us how nice your boots are next weekend!!!

It is really quite unbelievable but the new boots have actually made a positive difference to my skiing. The other thing is that in my case was my knee support, without it my knee swells up after an hours skiing. Maybe it's the expertly fitted boots or all the exercises I did on my step machine, but I had no knee problems at all for the whole week!

Anyway...Yes I will be showing off my new boots next weekend, I love them...And funnily enough my hubby loves them too and he has not complained about the money spent on them at all!!!

I assume the airline are catching the bill?

I was in Les Menuires.

No we went by coach (Which is why I thought the boots would be fine in my case).

When changing coaches hubby told me to get on the next one first to get the back seat...He then never got my bag! I won't repeat any of the conversation that was had immediately after discovering I had no case.

so, no pabs insurance will not cover it, the bag was not lost and it was not the coach company's fault.

Having read many threads regarding how to transport ski boots I decided for the first time in my life to put them in my suitcase...Guess what! My suitcase went to Chamonix and then back to London ( I was in Les Menuires!) and I was only reunited with it today on arrival back in London! In it was everything apart from my salopettes and a towel which was wrapped around my skis!!!

I cried a lot for a couple of hours and then went out shopping, first item bought were ski boots (Salomon Idol 8 CS), I'm sure some of you will remember me hankering after a pair at the ski show:-

I found an expert boot fitter and now have the best, most comfortable boots I have ever put on my feet. I have a bunion on one foot and have had an operation on another...renting is not an option ( I did try a few rental pairs first)

I then bought another ski jacket (brand new one in suitcase) gloves and hat. I made 1 pair of jeans last all week and borrowed some items of clothing from my son's girlfriend.

I still had a fabulous week, but I am absolutely certain of one thing...my boots will never leave my side again!

Every cloud has a silver lining!

We went to meet them, and had a good laugh for the rest of that week, and have subsequently even been to St Anton with them for a week, and he and his Mrs are now classed as good friends of ours.

I admit it does sound a little odd telling your friends, and Mrs H was particularly dubious about coming along. At the end of the day, if you meet for a beer, its an opportunity to share skiing experiences with a few more friendly and interested people. If your friends dont fancy meeting up, thats fine, their loss

As for meeting up, I would suggest a central bar straight off the slopes would be ideal, any day. Dont forget Andy Hull and his gang might be keen too!!! Stewart Dowling is your man to speak to about meeting up, he is the party animal of the group. Some of our group might not be too keen as they view internet forums "suspiciously" too but if it involves having a couple of beers, I am sure they'd come along. 4.30 - 5pm somewhere would probably be ideal. I believe SnowBandit is heading out there just before us so she might be able to find a happy hour bar right off the slopes.

I certainly am, I will be arriving on the 7th and will do that no problem, if you pm me your phone numbers I will send you a text with bar name and location. I will be leaving on the 11th so we can only meet for beers on either the 9th or 10th, I guess the 10th will be best for those of you arriving on the 9th.

I have only four days now to rest my legs after my week in LM that finished yesterday!

What did you get for Christmas ???

Shame on you mfc...Lol!
AllyG wrote:Congratulations Snowbandit, how exciting! I hope the expectant Mum manages okay. Do tortoises get egg bound? Have the eggs got to be kept at a certain temperature?

Pablo - I hope you were joking! If we all really stuck only to ski-ing at least 50% of the messages would disappear  In fact, come to think about it, I'd probably only post about one per week

Ally

They can get egg bound but she isn't. They have to be kept at 32 degrees for 65 days and cannot be turned at all or moved after 48 hours, hence needing a friend at the ready to get them carefully into an incubator! It's exciting but come at the wrong time as we have three ski holidays booked, all within the next 65 days!

This is skiing related anyway, as it is all about issues that may arise while on a skiing holiday and how to cope.
