Been wearing one since an accident I had in 2005 - never go up without one now! Luckily I was wearing one at the time of the accident so I was extremely lucky,

I think most people who are on the snow a lot, do look at people who are not wearing helmets, as out of touch, or not very serious about their sport. Just the way it is now, most serious skiers/boarders are wearing helmets.

That's not to say someone not wearing a helmet is not serious, but it certainly gives that impression.

Thats a very strange statement, does it really worry me that other people think I am out of touch cause I don't wear a helmet, answer no, your not a helmet salesman by any chance

Not you but most young folk would.

This is our second season wearing helmet's seemed to make sense. Allthough O/H took ages to get the right colour to match her outfit ) If you make your kids wear one because it offers them added protection might as well do it for yourself
Ready? I was born ready.

I'm with Tony on this one, and I certainly don't feel or worry about what other people may or may not be thinking about me on the slopes. I do always think that helmets are more accepted by snowboarders than skiers although I realise that is another sweeping statement

I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I decided to buy a helmet inbetween ski holidays this year. When we went to Italy in January I had a couple of falls and although I didn't hurt myself it shook my confidence. As we were going to Canada in the February I made the decision to buy a helmet, not because it would give me more confidence or stop me falling over, it just seemed like the right thing to do and this was before the NR incident. Also in Canada it really kept my head and ears warm and was so comfortable to wear. So yes I will be wearing my helmet when we go to Italy and Canada again next year.

I only started wearing one this year after a bit of pressure from my kids. When I started skiing, many moons ago, it seemed to me that it was mainly just expert skiers who wore helmets. I would have felt back then, that I was saying I was better than I was. It's not like that now and it is just a case of anything goes, young and old, good and not so good. I never thought I would adjust as easily as I did to wearing it. I was really surprised that after the first few runs, I was completely "at home" in it. It is really down to personal choice though. Each to their own

This season I'll mostly be wearing my lovely, comfy, warm Giro 10. I was reluctant to buy a crash lid but as said in previous discussions an accident last year made me think again.

Jeez this is turning into a bit of snobbery now judging by some views on here.
Talk of "young people" looking down on those who dont wear helmets, or not taking skiing seriously unless you wear one....

Guys, get a grip. I ski recreationally, I am not a racer of some kind of pro, and I choose not to wear a helmet. It does not make me out of touch and it does not make me a less serious skier. I have noticed more people wearing helmets, but I would have to say that when I skied last season helmet wearers were not in the majority, not that it matters.

But can those who have started looking down on those of us who do wear helmets please stop thinking they are better than us?

Thank you.
