Em, in the past, it seems to be security that has refused the boots. Oh, and whatever you do, don't say the word "bomb".

Dave,
If it's security that makes a fuss about the ski boots, what does one do with them then? I mean, by that point in time the suitcases have gone off to the hold.

And why are ski boots seen by some airlines as offensive weapons?

I thought it was the airlines causing the problem? I took mine through security the other day and they were fine. :?

Or do you mean 'in the past in the past'? Well if you're gonna mess about with bits of carpet they probably thought they were a B.O.M.B.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Did I tell anyone the story about how my boots 'in my suitcase' never arrived at all when I went to The Three Valleys and how it cost me an arm and a leg to buy new ones in France?:lol:

I have never been stopped at check in or security because of boots in my hand luggage. The only reason they were in my suitcase on tyhe above occasion that is I felt it less likely to loose a suitcase when travelling by coach!

I've often wondered what I should do with the spare one. There's a pole going spare too!

Sorry about that, Admin. I'm on wifi in Austria, so all my smilies work!

The point is, Emma, ol' luv, is that the decision is indeterminate. So it was OK for you. The end result M'Lud, should be the same law for all. And that is what we should be talking about, law, not whim.
Answer to the earlier question, if security determines that your hand baggage is unacceptable, then you have to return and check it in.
