I found a place called Hochkönig (high king) to be brilliant for families, beautiful areas to ski, very family friendly, 1 hour drive from Salzburg.
But I use a lad at a friends travel agency. I'm sure he won't mind me passing his details out.
Jamie 020 8619 0502. He's very helpful & may give you a few more options.
Hope that helps

yarik wrote: Thanks Guys for reply! Some friends suggested Lech, some- Serfaus. We are driving from UK, so as close as possible to Uk. Although not too far from ski slops(decent driving distance).
Serfaus is a really good choice especially for self-drive. Lech more expensive.

As an alternative I would suggest Ischgl which is more or less in the same area, but offers more and better alternatives for the not so advanced skier. Not quite as posh as Anton and Lech, but less pricey, more relaxed and with a nice, cosy atmosphere. Should be great for the kids too and will give you a taste of Switzerland as well, if you ski into Samnaun on the Swiss side of the border.

stay out of the "cool" resorts and the boarders resorts....high prices and lots of noise when you are trying to sleep!.....great resorts but not for beginners....concentrate on learning to ski in quieter villages, not nearly as pricey...have fun

You will find plenty to do, many places to eat and hang out with kids within these cities and each of these cities offer decent ski resorts that range from a 20-45 minutes drive, most with reasonable prices and family packages.
