Samnaun, Switzerland (1400m to 2900m)

World-class centre on Austro-Swiss circuit linked to Ischgl since the early 1980s- together creating the largest, as well as the livliest ski area in the Eastern Alps. The high altitude ski area and extensive snowmaking also make for one of the continent's more snow sure destinations. Samnaun made the news in 1995/96 when it opened the world's first double-decker cable car (also the biggest ever at the time, carrying 180 skiers). It is the host of the annual World Santa Claus Championships at the start of the season each winter.

Samnaun

The Swiss ski resort of Samnaun has direct access to 200km of downhill skiing, with 70 individual pistes, served by 40 ski lifts.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With pistes above 2500 metres, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

Snowmaking :- Samnaun is able to augment natural snow, with 260 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 40 Ski Lifts of Samnaun are able to uplift 78,500 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There is an airport within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Samnaun are perfectly feasible.
