Great report Gaz

Glad to hear that the whole family had such a good time

We loved Kitz a few years ago but, I must admit, am always put off going back due to the low altitude compared to many other places

Maybe I'll re-consider for next year

PS the piste map from that area is legendary for its stupidity....

Great report - thanks for taking the effort -)

I have been to the Skiwelt for 4 or 5 years now - its a great option for a long weekend flying into Munich. We have had all sorts of conditions but the skiing has always been good if not great. Yes, it is very low down but they know that and work very hard at preparing and maintaining the snow using very sophisticated snow-making equipment. I've skied down perfect pistes while the grass had already started to grow just a few feet off the piste

I think it is a great ski area with an extensive and wonderful variety of runs, Soll, itself is great fun with decent restaurants, a few lively pubs for cheesy German apres ski or even cheesier British bands  Anyone for Frog on the Tyne  Its also good value.

I know what you mean. With six days in which to ski, you want to make every one count. Funnily enough, I went to Kitzbuhel, which is at a similar altitude, in 2000 and 2001. I lost a day's skiing the first year and half a day's skiing the next; both through too much snow. It's the only place where this has ever happened. Before booking this deal I did quite a bit of research. I used the 'snow history' tool on the igluski site and used December's figures to err on the side of caution. That's how I arrived at the worst case scenario of downloading in the gondola. The weather was good on the whole; just a couple of days where the visibility could have been better, and the snow was excellent. We'll definitely be returning as a family and I would grab a late deal to Soll with the lads without hesitation. It's back to reality for me now. I'll be skiing vicariously through you guys and your reports. Looking good for Monte Rosa -) .

Glad it's not just me then :) . I was warned before we went. I think they try to cram too much information into too small a space.

I think its that one that gets highlighted as illegible every year in WTSaS (will check my copy when I get home)

Really like the look of Ellmau. Lovely village, bigger than Scheffau with more going on. Not as lively as Soll. The long red under the funicular was in great shape last week. Temperatures are dropping; it should stay good for you. Enjoy:-)
