Last time i drove a fiat it was round the cliffs of majorca......it was sh*te. And a panda.
Thats because Fiat Panda's are sh*te.
However the Grande Punto is a decent car, provided you get a good enough spec'd one. Mrs H had a 1.9 JTD sport with leather a few years back from new, it was really nice. I traded it in 6 months later for a Seat Leon FR - fantastic car.
I am not really fussed what others think. For me it does the job of commuting 150 miles/day and includes the following spec:
2l diesel making 165bhp
handsfree bluetooth (reads texts as well, that is really funny - she is so posh!)
Media player for USB/iPod
Climate Control
Cruise Control
Get the same spec on a Ford Focus it will cost you sigificantly more.
I am not bothered at the end of the day, I am not a brand snob. I too have had a Seat and that was bloody good (Until I wrote it off going backwards through a wall!!)

Yep, Mrs H's Punto had those features, the bluetooth built in was excellent. I know what you mean about "her" lol
The Punto was 130bhp turbo diesel with loads of torque for a small car.
165bhp is quite tasty.
Fiat make some decent cars these days. I had a 500 in Crete last year, quite funky. Shame about the 1.3 engine though
Mrs H now drives an old Mk IV Golf GTi, its the 150bhp diesel and drives magnificently well. I love getting in it when I'm not driving the business cars. My Seat Alhambra has a great engine, and does the job carrying 4-6 people but its just a bit of a bus really. The Merc is 198bhp and when you boot it, its got plenty in it, but its a cruising car and not to be thrown about. Unlike the Golf which is just mental when you push it around.
A rare one with the GTI leather seats as well
Yeah, the bluetooth really is a great bit of kit. Worth a few quid. The 165 is very tasty (6 speed) and has a fair amount of torque too.
Take off the badge and the comments would be different I think. Like I say, I am not bothered about marque. I am very impressed with it. It is also good in snow as I found out today
