A friend of mine took a chance and had an early week in Andorra, travelling back today. The Pyrenees were fortunate as they had early snow. Good skiing for the first 4/5 days but last I heard the snow was fast disappearing as it was 20c, yep 20c at times. All the weather in Western Europe is so mild this winter so far, look at the the UK.
Going to St Anton 23/01 so hopeful there will be a change in weather.

I am in Nendaz at the moment and when we arrived on 19th Dec the village looked sad and dry. However, going up higher than 2000 meters altitude I was really pleasantly surprised. The pistes are 7/10. Here and there there are dry patches and not ell the pistes are open but I am definitely very happy that I am spending time here with my family.

Skied Chamonix this morning, piste conditions are not bad. Main issue is everyone is being forced to same areas which means you cannot really open it up. Still good to feel a bit if burn.

Last skiing day of our Val d'Isere holiday. It may be bad elsewhere but the snow conditions are actually pretty good here. Pistes very quiet today above Solaise and on the glacier side. No complaints at all bearing in mind we've had wall to wall sunshine. It's been a very relaxing week. On balance we'd vote for this rather than 6 days of grey skies and whiteout conditions.

Glad you had a great time Barney. Safe home.

Still really bad. I went to Seefeld Monday, and bottled out of skiing in heavy snow. Went again today and did a couple of runs down, a nicer day, snow quite bad, and several pistes not really skiable at all. Was told by a random local enthusiast on the lift that even higher resorts are still totally dependent on artificial snow, apart from the glaciers. Forecast is for things to get better tomorrow.

Monday I did Skiwelt from Hopfgarten- total rubbish
Tuesday I did Hochfügen/Kaltenbach - pretty good actually. Fresh snow on top of the hardpacked stuff, so very OK really. Almost normal stuff.
Wednesday I did Niederau - icy, part open and rubbish.

It's all rather sad and they needs LOTS to get it acceptable.
