Skiing with kiddies....

Only thing I would say at this point, is to go for mittens and not gloves at those ages. This comes from experience with friends children. It does not hurt to have two pairs of each.

I would doubt you need to double up on suits, but make sure you take at least few pairs of suitable (thermal really) under garments. Don't forget, it is best to dress in layers, then if you get too warm (which causes sweat and actually makes your clothes wetter than rolling around in snow) it is easier to remove a layer to cool off a bit. Equally, you can always add another garment if you are getting cold.

Biggest tip would to ensure that gloves or mittens are not left just lying around if you stop anywhere for lunch or a drink. I like to tuck mine under my armpits, as this keeps them snug and warm for when I put them on again after.

Edit. UhOh, sounds like OldAndy has more experience with kids than me :( The ones I went with were not that bad, at least I didn't think so.

Actually, the comment about pretending to be videod may be nearer the mark than you realise OA.

I find it amazing to watch myself doing various things, as I always spot something I need to change and improve within seconds. I find it works for Skiing, Golf and many other things.

Just take my Snow Dance video for example   It took me just 3 seconds of watching that, to realise I should never, ever, ever post another video of me on the internet again

I certainly agree with that one icy

Which is why I have tended to stay out of these debates as much as possible.

I am simply sitting here, polishing my one, making sure it is ready for the next time it is needed.

Anyone else had this problem? I have snow socks!! but I know this will not be good enough.

I had a similar issue with my Audi. In the end, I simply did what a lot of Europeans do, and got a second set of wheels just for the winter, complete with winter tyres. I now have good seasonal tyres, plus I can fit chains, and my nice summer alloys don't go near the salt and crud :)

Not unless we get another 2 or 3 meters over Christmas. This global warming business will have what little which has come down so far, all melted by half term.
Should add that Google maps is as good as any of them, here is the route I would take from them..

Google Map Route

Personally, I would expect to do it at least an hour and a half quicker than it states, but that would assume a clear run all the way.
Have driven down through France many times, and it is always best to Avoid Paris where possible if just passing through.

JonG has the best route above, I think the trip planners often route you through Paris as it is slightly shorter on the road, but it will almost always take you longer to do

Don't forget to have plenty of winter strength (read almost undiluted) screen wash for the journey. If the conditions dictate, you will be amazed at how much you can get through. It can always be purchased at the fuel stops, but is usually dearer than if you get it over here before you depart.

Safe journey and enjoy the skiing.
