Here's another suggestion: Hoch-Ybrig - only 40 miles from Zurich. Looks perfect for a day, access via railway/bus. Look at: www.hoch-ybrig.ch/winter/english/ |

I know a large, extended family who have been going to the same hotel in Hochsolden since the 1970s. They love it, obviously!

Swiss fly six times a day from Heathrow to Geneva; six times a day from Heathrow to Zurich; four times a day from London City to Geneva and seven times a day from London City to Zurich. I think that's pretty good capacity for us skiers, Bandit!
London City is a complete non-starter, unfortunately, for any of us fortunate to be in the west. But Heathrow is altogether much easier.... :) |

Came across some very good news this weekend; Swiss now flying to Geneva from Heathrow several times a day. Good service, competitive prices and free ski carriage. I generally use them to Zurich but may now change my plans!

Good luck Glen with your search. One great advantage that the Swiss resorts have is the easy access by train - several have RAILWAY (not train!!!! Grrr!) stations close to the lift systems.
So how about Engelberg for a day visit? Easy access from Zurich via Lucerne. A decent sized ski area for a day, that's for certain. |

That's the fella, Tone! 'Hermann Maier is really flying, he's skied this section better than anyone...oh, he's lost it by a second!'

Tony H - I think the 'Irishman' you are referring to is Scotsman John Clark, former racer, speed skier and international coach. However, knowledgeable as he must be, he hasn't got a clue when to keep quiet!
The wintersports forum on the Eurosport website is full of comments asking that he please, please, please puts a sock in it! |

Where is this slope, Rose?
