I know what you mean. Giant Slalom is always good to watch from a technical point of view. For Slalom I tend to watch just the second half of the second run.
I also find it really difficult to stay awake when watching slalom. I don't know if it's the Eurosport commentators voices or the exertions of the evening before.
Irish? You sure you're not getting confused with the Tour de France?
Nick Fellows has been doing a few of them lately (of of World Cup Skiing on Channel4 before it was axed). God he can get excited.

I decided to have a life change and be more spontaneous. Starting tomorrow.

No new series of High Altitude then? :(
I hope that they dont just show the highlights of skiing that I will have watched on Eurosport earlier, and that they return to a mixed bag of things like it used to be, with resort reviews etc.

Sounds like High Altitude may have gone by the wayside Tony, not a cheap programme to make judging by the amount of travelling and hi-octane challenges they carried out in the first two series'!
As for the beeb's ski coverage apparently live World Cup stuff will be on the red button, not sure if they've done that in prior years or not?

Yes they have had the red button facility before. However, I tend to watch on Eurosport as their coverage is more comperhensive and they show live both first and second runs.
I tend not to watch the slalom for some reason, I dont find it is interesting or exciting. Super GS and downhill are my favourites.
I was hoping they'd have an intermediates red cruise that I could enter one year......
