Who suggested he didn't have a ton of guts to do what he did? Not me, that's for certain. I meet him occasionally on the train these days as he lives in the same town - and he is never anything but charming and amusing. (By the way, I first interviewed him for a local paper way back when he was an extremely promising slalom racer).
However, I was taking issue with the report's use of the very much overworked 'great'. In ski jumping, Matti Nykanen was a true 'great'; Eddie was a great success, I suppose, in bringing publicity to his sport - and well done to him for that. |

Good news, however, to describe Eddie Edwards as "the great" is stretching it a bit! (And I have known and like Michael Edwards since the 1970/80s on the Gloucester dry slope - and he is a very friendly, good all-round bloke!)

It's rather similar to putting a steering wheel lock on your motor car; it jut might deter a casual thief and make him look elsewhere for easier pickings. I try to remember by wrapping this chain device around the skis and padlocking them to a ski rack.

Easter 1972 - Sauze D'Oulx - cable bindings, lace-up leather boots!
So that's 37 years (with no gaps!) of ski-ing! Sorry, not trying to be boastful but...that's not bad, is it? School trip with Ski Plan to the Hotel Monte Genevris; the following year the school went to Austria with Swans! Are they still operating? |

I only know of one - Solden in the Tyrol, Austria. Not, of course, to be confused with SoldeU!

Have a great time! (By the way, and looking at your pen name Scarlet Fez, are you a Saracen?) )

Solden in Austria; where is the other one? )
