I am a big fan of Seefeld in Austria, although I don't think I have much company on here (rarely see it mentioned). The ski schools are good and well peppered with high-standard, English-speaking instructors. It is a charming place, less than a half-hour from Innsbruck, with some decent music, although I can't claim to be an expert in night-life any more. This will be our third year in succession here, and am looking forward to some challenging skiing for my standard (intermediate +).

Ta. Seems like something that is easily home-made, rather than pay the amounts asked.

We've been going to Seefeld in Austria now for about three seasons. It's during February half-term though!! :( The facilities there suit us.

Thank you. Yes, many replies seem to suggest one on one instruction. Could be the way to go.

I think there's a lot to be said for having a good laugh. Have a look at video number 5 of me on here, in a lesson with Inside Out Ski-ing in the Hemel Hempstead snow dome. I'm being dragged down the slope by my partner using 2 ski sticks tied together as ropes, one in each hand

The instructors managed to keep me happy and challenged for 4 1/2 hours of ski-ing on an easy very short slope in a snow dome - and at the end of it I was totally exhausted! I mean, have you ever tried side-slipping on one leg?

So I'm quite sure you could manage to achieve the same on a blue piste in resort :)

Best of luck, and I hope you both have a great holiday :)

Great! I think we ought to try and get to that place actually, although when we fit it in between now and February, considering the distance, I don't know. :(

It's taken 13 years of marriage but I just accept her for what she is now.

Oh! I'm perfectly happy for her to be where she is, if she's enjoying it. My disappointed lies more in the fact that she is considering cross-country, which kind of seems like she is giving up, plus, considering our ages, we need to maximise our chances of improvement before our bodies stop allowing us to improve any more.

I don't really accept her for what she is, she had just walked in the room at that moment. SHE DRIVES ME MAD.

(and she's going into lessons this year too)
