Have to agree, Brucie. Five years ago, my sons bought me a helmet camera for Christmas. It is still in it's box.
Today, I did succumb. Bought a pair of gloves from Aldi. Just £4.99, do not have the leather palms that I normally specify, but as a second pair, they will do fine. Back to camera, my four Youtube vids were all taken with a hand held video camera. Down the speed gun, 102kph: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5SbCO9cIS4 The run down the mountain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGAAR5dS_Vg For me, the most important thing is the skiing, not the gear. |

Errm, snow? When I first started going to Niederau, (47 years ago....) at weekends the Bichlwirt filled with Bavarians. At that time Niederau had many more runs than it has now, and is only 1 1/2 hours drive from Munich. At that time, the ski welt did not exist. Each village had one or two lifts, and there were no links over the plateau. When the villages got their act together, that all changed. Allessi, your query is a bit academic. John and I buy KitzbuhelAllStar passes. In John's case it is a season pass, and for me generally a 2 week pass, although, if I know I will be going back in late season, I too buy a season pass. If you are planning to ski several weekends, it makes sense for you to buy an AllStar season pass, and then it doesn't matter which resort you stay in. It is probably more relevant to suss out 2 night accommodations in different villages. It is only a 15 min drive from Niederau to the nearest point on the Skiwelt, and within 20 minutes from there, you can access all the SW villages. John generally heads for Westendorf, whereas I like to start in Scheffau. Having said that, I generally manage to make the last couple of runs of the day, back in Niederau! So, maybe see you in Niederau in mid-January? Don't worry about cost, it's John's round...... |

I have far too much kit, too many pairs of skis, 11 or 12 pairs, THREE pairs of ski boots, (all single clip rear entry), two pairs of Sallos. Ridiculous.
The one item would be a pair of gloves, if I can get some Raichle at a reasonable cost. It is the one item of kit that I am heavy on. |

There is a J2Ski connection, by Darcicles.
On Monday, watch: "Set your recorders or hit iPlayer Billy Bunter will be airing on the Victoria Derbyshire show Monday 28th November BBC 2 9-11 am (Billy should be on around 10 am). Off the back of the documentary, Billy and I have been invited to take part on the live show discussing facial difference and discrimination. One question being discussed is should schools as part of the national curriculum teach about facial difference and how children can be on the receiving end of discrimination and prejudice from their peers. This was posted on another site, by a lady, whose J2ski name is Darcicles. Last year, she appealed for help regarding her disabled son, Billy. Through a BASI website, I put her in touch with DS support. You can view this on http://alpinefreedom.co.uk/biskiing-in-hochfugen/ If nothing else, this shows the power of J2Ski, and how we can help those less fortunate than ourselves. I am fortunate that every mid January, my Niederau ski coincides with the annual DS visit. I get to meet with many DS skiers, their instructors, and helpers. The main J2ski post was https://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/16637.page#151187 |

As they say in Liverpool, "Carm down, carm down!"
Last season, I had my usual 2 weeks in Austria, January, followed by a week in France, February. Two weeks in Vail Colorado, March. A week in Austria, April. This season, have my usual Austrian January, plus a February week in the Dolomites, Italy. I will have to work hard with Frau Mac to get a March week.... |

Alessi, you have entered a friendly fountain of snowsport knowledge. Start with your foremost questions, and work your way from there.

I also meant to add an observation about the yellow coated skier. In his left turn, his upper body is also not facing downhill, compounding the lack of angle.
The RH turn, compared with the LH turn is classic with RH people. I recognised this very early in my skiing days. and made a deliberate decision to start my run with a LH turn. Both of my sons are left handed. They are now both good even style skiers, but in early days, I spotted their LH turns were cleaner than the RH turns. |
