Thoughts on the Euro Crisis?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 23 Replies
What needs to happen is the Euro zone countries and further afield need to realise that any country going bust will start a chain reaction that will be very difficult to stop. The international community needs to act to prevent that.
A big part of the problem that has been the downgrading of credit rating, it's a vicious circle, credit rating drops, the interest rate goes up and country gets closer to the edge. At some point the country goes bust the banks lending the money need to be bailed out and we all suffer.
We need an international agreement to lend to sovereign states at a guaranteed low rate for the next 2-3 years in return for a structured control of spending and investment from outside.
With that breathing space the Euro Zone countries can work out how to move forward, who's in and who's out.
Skiing in later years

I ski regularly with a guy in his 70s, I have to keep reminding myself that he is that age because you would guess.
If I'm still skiing as well as he does at that age I'll be more than happy!

Great for the beginners but a pain if you want to get up that little bit in a hurry. Odd being inside that perspex tunnel, feels greenhouse like, you almost expect to be watered up the way up.

So the coverage of the skiing in US, which was only held there because of not enough snow in France, was interrupted because there was too much snow in France. I love it!
Lack of snow and snow making in chamonix
Started by User in France, 80 Replies
I wish I was! I hope I am right about this, Chamonix isn't somewhere I have a lot of knowledge of. But I can't think that the make up of the pistes is that different to other resorts and that they need a great deal more than anywhere else.
That said they should have 80cm by the end of this storm so should still be ok by the weekend.
We'll know a lot more this time tomorrow.

Watching the video feed of the Solaisse Express web cam, it's proper dumping it down.
