Dave, am I missing something?

We have an experienced boarder and a wimpy skier (me) - I'm a nice wide red run cruiser!

Sounds perfect to me... what I saw of Zermatt suggested that it has plenty of confidence inspiring terrain choices.

Zermatt... although when I was there a lot of the area wasn't open (no demand, not too little snow) what was open fits the bill, plenty of long wide cruisy reds especially over in to Cervinia.

Edit: transfer durations might not suit you but there is plenty to look at on the way...

Don't care about slumming it when I get wherever I am going but surely if you are going on a weeks holiday, adding an extra day for travel each way (instead of say, 5 hours waiting for a flight, getting on it and travelling to the resort at the other side), is 2 days 'lost'. My time is worth more than that

18 hours to Tignes (from London)? Serious?

In that time sitting on a bus I could be drinking a pint in the Rockies. From door to door (including a flight to London and a 3 hour wait) it will take 17 hours

My parents went to Lake Garda during the summer and won't shut up about it, I am sure I could get some café recommendations out of them but I doubt they would have any tips for sailing etc

I'm not sure if I could twist my foot out but here's a tip, do not try and kick your toe out using your other foot if it is boot-less :(
