To help you out on the paranoia front and since people seem to be demonstrating their wibble in stars rather than constructive comments I just gave you those five stars Ally.... 8)
I'm afraid I don't really care too much about the starring system and don't even understand why I'm on 5 but sure that will change after this post has been read. There are a lot of people on here who contribute regularly and whilst I may not always agree with the opinions expressed I'll chuck my twopenneth in or just let it ride however the starring system to me is being abused by some for no apparent reason. I can't understand why trencher has been given abuse on this thread for no justifiable reason. Plus all because AllyG likes a joke and tells us she likes it doesn't warrant 1 star!! Anyway my mini wibble over and I'm sure this post will now be rated low for giving my opinion but hey ho  |

Karen i think your kids look pretty cool! 8)

I assume you mean turning your body around so your skis are below you rather than "turning" your skis downhill - otherwise you will never stop!! I'm afraid I'm with Brucie on this one and I'm not sure I would recommend practising falling as you are just looking to injure yourself. Just know what to do in order to stop yourself safely if you do fall and start sliding. To me falling always means I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone so its all good..... apart from earlier this year when I was trying to master 360 spins on a green slope and repeatedly fell at 135degrees and landed on my right thigh  By the end of the day however I was happily spinning around but the thigh was another story 8) |

Hey Karen
A great report and despite problems sounds like you enjoyed yourself. I have to say you seem to have gotten a raw deal with Cystal. I have used them twice before once to Andorra and once to Passo Tonale. In Andorra we had no problems apart from the usual long transfer but there is nothing you can do about that unless they agree to fly you into Barcelona (which ain't gonna happen) we also had a great rep. We also had a good time in Passo Tonale although our rep was appalling and not to be recommended (in fact I complained about her on my return!) You mention that some of the blues were more like reds and that they are often all just marked blue. Unfortunatley this is common in a lot of resorts. They effectively they often just look at the gradient from the top to the bottom and then give it the appropriate colour but it could mean that you get a steep pitch in the middle and the rest of the run could be nice and gental. As for your photo with the kids on the chairlfit on their own. I am hoping they weren't in ski school as that is a big NO NO... however regardless of that the lifties shouldn't have allowed them on there alone even if you find an unsuspecting adult they should always be accompanied!! So does this mean you are now looking forward to your third week of skiing now even if it isn't till next year? A xx |

Hey
Sounds like you have pushing your boundaries whilst out skiing. I don't think there is really any safe way to fall as I often find you fall so quickly there is no time to react. As for stopping yourself once you have fallen the best thing for you to do is pread yourself out into a star shape and do your best and digging in the edges of your skiis (or if you lost your skis your boots). I'm afraid to say if you lose your skis there is very little you can do..... |
