Lech & Zug info please
Started by User in Austria, 32 Replies
I wish I could give you some good news but I am pretty certain there is no green run back to Zug!! We have stayed in Lech and the run down to Zug from Zurs is (or was) a red itinerary route which I am always relieved to get down in one piece! We have always found the buses excellent however so your OH could ski from the top of the Rufikopf cable car with you down to Zurs and take the bus back to Lech and then Zug.
Our favourite lunch spot is on the terrace of the Burgwald hotel at Oberlech.
Help me search please!

I've tried this one - I thought there used to be one to retrieve previous posts though?

We hired ours from the ski shop which is part of a hotel - the Riml I think - across the road and up some steps from the Olymp. I think you can leave the skis and boots in the hire shop instead of carrying them each morning. The main lift is very close to this hire shop. We had excellent service from the hire shop whilst we were there.

We stayed at the Olymp a couple of years ago. Great place with little touches like a different chocolate left by our bedside each evening! We even managed to get a room with its own mini sauna cabin! Food was excellent and in vast quantities, plus there is soup/cake/hot dogs etc each teatime in their adjoining Hutte (Toni's Hutte I think). There is a swimming pool for burning off any excess calories though.

I think there is night skiing a couple of times a week in Hochgurgl but really not much else as it is a collection of 5 or 6 really smart hotels but no shops apart from ski hire. The Spar in Obergurgl has just about everything though.

Have stayed and skied in both - Obergurgl is the livelier of the two villages though. One of the 'must do' things is to visit the Top Mountain Star at the top of the Wurmkogl II lift above Hochgurgl. The views are breathtaking - particularly the Dolomites.
The other recommendation is a visit to the Nederhutte on Blue 6 in Obergurgl at about 4 in the afternoon to experience the live music and the dancing on the tables with your ski boots on!

I would like a Morris Minor version where for 1 euro you also get a bottle of Vimto and a packet of crisps and if it suddenly stops, you get out and hit the petrol pump with the heel of your shoe!

If Masterclass can't help for some reason, there is a lovely lady called Davina who lives in one of the Serre Che villages who sometimes comes over to AdH to help out Masterclass (just in case you think a lady instructor would be better),
