Well....... I for one hope you buy sensible cover "just in case" and ..... Then hope you don't need any of it and can get to the end of the season never having the need to contact your insurer! :D |

A light dusting at resort level in Tignes at the moment.
Freeze/thaw level dropping dramatically during the day. Should be some lovely white mountains on webcams tomorrow morning. |

Forecast - wet, frost, ice in places, below average temperatures for November...... Where I live (country) loads of mud on roads due to farm traffic = really dodgy when wet or frosty. Get the winters on! |

Shipjack - Les Arcs is a substantial ski area on its own without adding la Plagne.
Plenty for a week - especially with a mixed ability group. If you would normally ski and plan to all meet up for lunch, for example, getting the most out of the whole area pass would appear difficult. You could all go over for a day for the experience, just to say you have been. I did several seasons in Les Arcs well before the Vanoise Express and can assure you I didn't think I was in some little resort skiing wise - the area is huge. Doubt you'll manage all of it comprehensively in a week! Whatever you choose - enjoy. :D |

Snapzzz - know what you mean about the job.
Hard luck on not getting the offer - then you could have turned it down! :D Much the better outcome - bit like dating really. |

Insurance does seem to be such a perosnal thing and I know I am the cautious type - I like to know I am covered!!
It is my understanding that EHIC gives you what the French get FREE, which is not the same as full medical cover. You would be left paying for a lot of stuff if you became ill or had an accident. I am not an officianado of Carte neige, but pretty sure this is cover for mountain activity related accidents. Lots of other ways to have an accident! I would have thought that having a look at the policy bandit suggested would make sense (other policies are available ..... love putting that bit in!). You could end up hugely out of pocket if you became ill or had an accident while in France without insurance cover. Where do you live kusanagi? EHIC is available for EU citizens, I think I read somewhere that there are a few other reciprocal arrangement floating around but not sure. |
