I'm thinking about heading up there tomorrow from Motherwell all pending a last minute weather check on the snow up there

Thanks

Snow today was absolutely quality. Untracked boot deep powder all day long (genuine powder too), I'd have to guess at the temperature somewhere between -5 and -10. Was -10 when driving back through GLencoe.

No problems with the roads at all, the road up has snow on it but in good condition.

Any advice on where would be best to head for in terms of the skiing? I have friends in Glasgow and Aberdeen where I could stop.

If it doesn't warm up I would Nevis is a good shout, cover at the top is extensive (read: no rocks), and most of the way down the Goose tbar, skiable back to the day lodge.

Nevis is probably closest for you no matter what way you go, took me 2 and a half hours on the way up (loads of traffic and being careful) and an hour 45 on the way home.

Ever had the urge...?

Thats just what she tells you, I'd bet they actually used it in the production of crystal meth to sell on for a healthy profit.

Why would you ski on a dodgy grassy hill when you can do it lift served between an hour and two hours from your door?!
Just going to the pub to warm up and help me sleep well, up at 7 :D
Going to make it up tomorrow, II on Winterhighland took this photo today:

It is coming down hard here, if this doesn't relent it there may be too much snow for me to get skiing tomorrow
The quickest way (at a guess) would be to cross on to the M8 and drive all the way round and over the Erskine Bridge on to the A82 and just keep going for the next hour and 45 minutes

The road is hardly boring though: http://www.gla.ac.uk/medicalgenetics/chighlands/morss_glencoe.jpg
Nevis Range is the closest. For prices check out www.nevisrange.co.uk

I could do it in 2 hours from my place in Glasgow, might take you a little longer from Bellshill.

Was your bike a "Brentner" yellow thing with a ball for the suspension ?? May have mis spelled the name. Yes I am having a morning lesson from Richard who lets them out. Based in Southampton but Sainte Foy in the winter. I have rheumatoid arthritis in my body but at the moment I am OK but I now find skiing too taxing, hence the snow bike thing. I am staying at the Auberge down the hill near La Thuile. All a bit of an adventure, my wife has opted out so I am doing a solo.

Appreciate some info please. Sounds like you were a natural !!! Are you a young person ? Facilities, standard of pistes, access from my chalet. etc. Can one leave the bike in resort ? Any photos ?

Again thank you for your reply.

Brian

I didn't actually try them, wasn't willing to waste a powder day (week). I was on skis and he was on the bike ;)

He seemed to think anyone could pick it up really quick and also seemed to resent the fact he hadn't invested in a chalet instead of 40 snowbikes
