i lived in kuwait some years ago. when i flew from the UK at the start of the term in september, i took with me all my ski stuff as i planned to fly from kuwait to munich at xmas. my cases were those selected for perusal on this occasion at kuwait airport. the security staff were very amused at the DYNASTAR ski boots enclosed within ... but they failed to do a body search and i sailed into kuwait with a bottle of Gordon's gin tucked into the back of my thick woolly tights which I was wearing underneath my generously-sized jeans ... Ha! (outside, it was about 110F). L.

I just KNEW that it'd be a blokey bloke who replied to that one and got it spectacularly WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave, you take 14 pairs of knickers so that you change them when you have a shower before dinner and subsequentlty hit the town (or the village for us Niederau-ers!) Keep UP!!, you Philistine! Hope you like the pic of my boy. i have been on holiday with a bloke who announced, upon unpacking, that he'd brought only 4 briefs for a 7 night holiday ... he wore Monday's again on Friday. Eugggghhhh. We parted soon afterwards ... L.

Are there any other girlies out there who pack 14 pairs of knickers for a 7 night holiday? Why 14? (plus one or two spares). My male friends always ask me this question. L.

soz, jan stenmark, i didn't read your earlier message about the hotel vicky being offered by crystal. but others say that now it's been withdrawn by crystal too?

how are you fixed for a drinks visit by 3 girlies the week of new year(we have a car).

to reitertate dave mac's message about the train service out of munich airport: i've uesed this train many times, and never, ever paid. i've always been rushing onto the first innsbruck train i can find out of munich ost. a few times, the german ticket collectors have come round and when i've asked ''pardon?'' , they've always shrugged their shoulders and walked on! hi dave mac.
hope you received my email to you earlier. what is all this about the vicky not being offered by thomson this coming season? i'm sure when i looked at the brochures weeks ago, the vicky was there on the niederau pages.

you're right, the place just needs an injection of cash and a lick of paint. the rooms in genaral are rather ad looking, with walls and some bedding having cigarette burns in'on them. however, some rooms had new bathrooms fitted a few years ago and these lifted those rooms.

the place is STILL owned by M U, is it not? perhaps jan stenmark can confirm this. i have always understood that thomson took the vicky on a long ''lease'', but that allowed the company to pull out if and when it wanted. i have heard rumours that the owner was thinking of retrieving the hotel and turning the place into high quality apartments, as has been done elsewhere in the village in the last few years.

the vicky has been very safe, and convenient for families in particular, but people staying there seem unable, or unwilling to venture further afield, even to see a typical Tyrolean evening at somewhere like the Harfenwirt. and they don't get to sample the cuisine of austria because the vicky's chef is always british.
whatever, the vicky will be almost full for most of the season, i would imagine, especially xmas/new year and feb half term. these people will all have to be moved elsewhere in the village/nearby. i can see lots of unhappy families who have used the vicky for years.
L.
will someone please let me now what's happened?
