If you have a full week, head for Switzerland, Zermatt and Saas Fee are prety much equidistant from Visp. Stay in both a copule of nights, they both have there own charm, with Saas Fee being the prettier and Zermatt being the more cosmipolitian. Saying that, Saas Fee is earning a rep as a boarders resort.

Indications from Zermatt are that the Matterhorn side will open relatively early this year, they are busy building the piste to Trockner Steg (I saw the snow machine in operation yesterday. They are expecting about 20-30cm snow tonight, unfortunately I am back in Germany

Thanks Tino, I read your blog on Hintertux - very nice - and thought that was an option

Hi all J2skiiers

I have just found out we get a week off in November for our Eid holidays here in UAE. We are not going skiing until Feb this year so was wondering if there was any resort that we could go to that would have some snow on 14th November???? We do not really want to wait until Feb

We will be 2 adults and 3 kids all reasonable skiiers/boarders and ski mainly Austria but are open to all suggestions.

thanks

I agree with all of the above. We do Kitzbuhel every year and spend a second week at a different resort. This year it is Oberlech (Lech) last year Saalbach HInterglemm, next year Ishgl.

Any of these Austrian resorts are great!!

Flight out LGW 9th Jan 0755.

500 per person, catered chalet Kamanga (which got mixed reviews).
This will cater for a party of 20 (currently I have had over 30 people express and interest).
I am awaiting further information from the TO as I have specifically as for Lift Pass Deals to be included (either BOGOF or included in the price for such a large group booking).
I have also asked if there are any other chalets located near to each other to accomodate a few more peeps.
This is the first response I have had back with a cost so I will expect a few more in the coming days.

What is people initial reaction to the price?
If I look on Crystal Ski for 2011 it is around 700 HB

Hi Stewart

sorry, but we have to pull out of the 2010 2011 trip as OH has to be in Dubai that week for a conference. We will now be going to Oberlech from 22nd Jan instead.

I will keep an eye on this thread for next year!!!!

- now starting to notice that 90 percent of skiers are wearing helmets.
Day three on the slopes - came out of a left hand turn and smack bang into another person doing a right hand turn - bruised ribs.

Keep me posted where you are next skiing. That's more crashes than I have ever had and I ski every week! I think we should keep to different slopes! )

Hi nicoatridge - This year Scheffau, Soll, Saalbach and Kitzbuhel. Note the avatar and keep clear 8)

every week, lucky you :!:

I have to say that none of the accidents were my fault - promise.

Our kids have been wearing helmets since day one as most of us do insist on it and it is compulsory in Austria for kids anyway.

This year we have had 24 days on the slopes so far.
Day one I was run into by novice skier (do not know what they were doing on that red slope to start with) and fell backwards and banged my head - saw stars! Conversation with OH about how we should get helmets.
Day two on the slopes, I was run into by another novice, twisted my knee and cracked my head again!
- now starting to notice that 90 percent of skiers are wearing helmets.
Day three on the slopes - came out of a left hand turn and smack bang into another person doing a right hand turn - bruised ribs. Straight down the mountain, into the ski shop and both OH and I are now proud owners of a new helmet each!!!

I must admit, they are very comfortable, don't look too bad and at least I do not have to kep pulling my hat down over my ears every five minutes!

Best investment we have made for a while I think!
