Oh yeah, and I won't be here either as I am a little tied up this next week.

I had heard rumours about Wickers having a certain fetish, but never thought to see it out in the open!

I have already won one of the prizes, so will also refrain from entering. Good luck to everyone else.
Val d'isere over Christmas

I personally have never done a trip over Christmas, but it has always stuck me that the Austrians & Germans seem to do the Christmas thing a lot better than the rest of Europe.

I did do a trip to Germany in early december for the Christmas Markets, and had a great time. The atmosphere was excellent considering it was the beginning of December, better than back in the UK.
I don't really expect anyone else to fully understand why I like this picture so much. It is a snap of one of my buddies skiing down the Lauberhorn, but whenever I look at it, all I can see is a penguin going down the slope, and it has yet to stop making me laugh and remember the holiday :D

Taking food into the US

Hi 1606wales, personally I would not risk taking advice from a forum with regards this subject. I'm sure you have seen the programs showing the fines people get when they are stopped at immigration and "thought" they were allowed to carry certain items in.

I have not been to the USA for a few years, but they were pretty strict when I last went, and I have had my bags searched on the last 3 visits, including hold luggage on the return trip after it was checked in  A real shock when you get back to the UK and find your case locks busted off and a message inside stating it had been randomly searched

First place to look would be the Customs website.. Department of Homeland Security Website (it does seem to be slow to load.

Next, I would enquire direct with the Embassy before you go, especially as you may need to pre declare some items.

Enjoy your trip

err, I've got options to either like "yes" or "no". Do the "no's" get ignored?

:( Sadly, it would seem so.

Hope there was no one actually involved.

Bandit, I noticed this on the one you posted the other day as well, but do you think linking to "Slideshows" is a good thing for an avalanche.
