"Must do" runs in 3 valleys
Started by User in France, 53 Replies
So many must do runs!

Some of my favourites, right to left on the piste map.

La Masse, above Les Menuires. Quiet area, choice of blacks (Masse and Lac Noir) and reds (Langet and crêtes) above mid station, all good, snow tends to stay in great condition. Also some excellent off piste between the runs.

Cime De Caron (highest point in area at 3200m) choice of direction, off the back into the 4th valley via the Combe de Rosaël black run. Or down the front side on either the red col de l'audzin or black Combe de Caron. The snow condition on the black is often better than the red.

Take the Funitel Peclet lift up from the centre of Val Thorens, then the glacier chair. The Glacier black run looks short on the map but it's great fairly steep and very high, off piste options off to the side too. Below that there are a number of reds and the Cascades black bumps run. Good fun.

Head towards Meribel, via the Plein Sud and 3 valleys lifts. The red on the other side, Lac de la Chambre is a blast, long varied terrain, picturesque, brilliant.

Mont Vallon choice of red runs, Campagnol or Combe de Vallon, both great runs, steep in places, good off piste bit on sides.

Take the Plan de Mains lift rather than the Ours blue run, it a path with a lot of poling if there's a head wind! From the top of the lift there are a number of great cruising blues. Great fun all the way down into Mottaret.

Pas de Lac lift up the other side and down into Courchevel. Choice of runs, the un-pisted Grand Couloir with it's hair raising access. (YouTube it!)
The red Combe Saulire is great or head further across and hit the Combe Pylône, M or Suisse blacks.

One of my favourite black runs anywhere is the Jockeys run down to La Praz. Tree lined and varied, simply superb.

Heading back the other way, above Meribel, a great long easy red run, the picturesque Jérusalem and blues below all the way to St Martin at 1400m.

Can't wait to be back the in January!

After ripping up a run I just like a nice sit down on a comfy chair. Perhaps I'm just getting old!

They should be restricted to glaciers only! Horrible outdated things.

oh, that'll do. Well happy with the choice anyway. :D

Who's your current fav tour operator?

We did a day there too, we'll worth a visit. Would have been better in powder conditions.
I remember there being a run called nasty gash.
