Very risky late booking for new year, a week either side of the Christmas break fine, but on a peak week choice is going to be restricted and the savings not as big.

Niederau will always be special to me because it's where I learned to ski nearly 24 years ago.
Would it interest me now? Probably not. I wouldn't want to spoil the memories by skiing it out in half a day. |

Why isn't there an overnight service? The whole point of going by train for me is 8 days skiing!

Which is why I usually choose January. Usually the best snow conditions too, nice and cold to keep it deep and fluffy. |

Just been looking through my photos of Les Arcs Jan 2009, there's not a single one of a piste which you would even begin to describe as busy. In fact the place looks deserted.

2010 was bad enough, we made it to Alpe D'Huez by the skin of our teeth, other weren't so lucky.
