Knee Binding. If you could mount this on a non flat ski and get a touring version would be perfect.

Yes definitely nothing to worry about, there is still 6 weeks of season left. The beginners slopes in Le Tour or Le Houches are plenty high enough and fantastic (did you manage to book lessons?). Interestingly the beginners slope in town @1000m is rarely used, mainly on the basis that in almost all other resorts it would be considered a red/black.

"April tends to be sunny and warm", ?, so many posts on this site about Chamonix being famous for bad weather and closed lifts. You will have a great time and have chosen best time of year to learn how to ski.
Hi,

well Chamonix will still be open and plenty of snow in the area so this would not be a concern, will not shut until May 8th. If you are complete beginners then most likely (given time of year), you would start at Le Tour/Balme at top end of valley. This is about a 20min bus ride from Chamonix itself (which is where I would base myself).

I assume you are taking ski school in which case plenty of good options, including many British based companies (BASS + many independent ski instructors).

If you are progressing well then resort has an abundance of easy runs at Les Houches and Balme ski area.

Not a classic beginners ski area but certainly an option. However if you look at snow reports I believe many of the lower resorts will be shutting with loads of snow left. Unfortunately as they already advertised closing dates it is unlikely they can justify financially keeping open much longer as lack of tourists. 1st week of April though you can still pick any resort and will be fine.

Cervinia, nice easy skiing, guaranteed snow and being Italy good coffee and food. Not many trees but I would not really consider it as a place that suffers from serious weather. People spend far more time worry about no snow than bad weather. For sure there this will be of zero concern about snow there.

Winning in negotiation has nothing to do with having the upper hand, same as poker. They have skis they need to shift (everything in stock is worth a little bit less every day), he basically has limited or no loss especially if he can upsell. Selling skis is a pretty niche market definitely not worth getting a bad reputation over for what I would suggest amounts to about 50 GBP.
Of course now he is relying on you skiing them deciding not so bad and hence never returning and being stuck with average skis.
Obviously only you know how they felt but first impressions are rarely wrong. If you have ski often (few x a year) on dry slope I would trust first impression.
