Hi,
Went last new year and if you go up the glacier there are some wide runs right at the top serviced by drag lifts. if you want some gentle stuff use the runs near the town centre (Maiskogel) as some of the runs on the glacier are a little narrow / steep for beginners and very busy. You can always get the free ski bus to Zell-am-see for more wider runs (10 mins by bus) |

Not too bad a little steep and narrow at top but if u bottle it there is a blue run back down to arcs 2000.
Some nice reds over near the grand Reynard area of arcs and try the blue called belvedre which you get to by going straight down from arcs1950 to the last lift before the road and coach park it takes u up and over into the next valley and you can ski all the way to arcs 1600 |

Get the discovery lift pass it gives you 1 day on la plagne for a couple of euros over the standard price for 6 day pass activated by going over on the vanoise express cable car ( nice views from the cable car).
Also take choc bars and drinks out with you Buy from supermarket in arcs 2000, as the piste cafes are ridiculosly expensive €15 euros for lasagne!! And 5 euros for a coke! Lots of mileage great skiing ( was there 2 weeks ago). have a great time |

Just come back from Arcs last week.
Would stay at the lower resorts such as 1850 or if your budget will stretch 1950 resort but not much going on at 1950 in evenings (bit like a theme park). The place is well built and lovely but pricey and small. 2000 is not very good looks very worn out and the hotels are a bit tired. Skiing is very good though with lots of mileage and if you get the 6 day discovery pass you can have a day over at Le Plagne which is activalted on the same card for 1 day. :-) |

1. Boots & footbeds
2. I found individual lessons, you progress faster (but depends on quality of instructor) ask the poeple candidly at you local slope which instructor they recomend. 3. lessons on dry slope wont hurt you and will make sking on snow easier when you get on it 3. take a lesson or two at a snow dome before you go on your first holiday away 4. Keep at it and dont give up ! (its possibly one of the most rewarding hobbies you will ever take up and say bye to all your spare cash!!) Welcome to the club :D |
