Summer Skiing

Is it any good? We are off to Vaujany for a week in August and I thought I might try a morning on the Les Deux Alpes glacier. Is it worth it? Anyone tried?

I have never been to France skiing before alway skied in Austria. The only thing that worries me is that the runs are going to be a bit "samey". from looking at pictures of the la plagne area there doesnt seem to be much in the way of scenery. just slopes for miles which is a good thing but I dont want it to get boring. Or if someone can tell me different. like I say we will be sticking mainly to blues and greens, might have the odd day over to les arcs (which on looking at a 6 day family ticket between the discovery and the unlimited pass was only a difference of about 80 euro for 4 of us).I am still looking at options but I do still keep coming back to la plagne mainly because of its vast area of blues and cruisy runs

I love the scenery at La Plagne, have a look

I have never been to La Plagne but I would guess that it is purpose built, detracts somewhat from the rest of the scenery me thinks

Hi Ian,
Yes some of the buildings in La Plagne are ugly (very ugly) but its the mountains I look at and so I am able to ignore the buildings most of the time.
Help with my shortlist

Trouble is it's Austria

Why don't you like Austria Ian?

I have to say its usually low on my list because I like the huge areas and hight in France. My first trip to the Alps was Saalbach and I really enjoyed the place but when I went to Val D'Isere I felt like I had stepped up a league with the grandeur of the mountains.

I will go to Austria again one day though

You can also get there from Innsbruck which is the shortest transfer if you can get a flight.

been there twice myself and the only thing stopping me going again is the scenery. Its ok but it can't compare with say La Plagne.

Hi,
I've only been once but I can't remember any moguls. I certainly wouldn't go there just for a mogul lesson, you're not on the snow long enough.
