Magic Numbers all skiers should know!

I'm back! Very tired after Long drive and can do without thinking too much about this tonight but....

In the words of Loyd Grossman - 'Let us examine the evidence'
When you buy a house you look at the initial price, taxes, legal fees, etc.. When you want the best ski deal you look at...... ( yes here is your Gaussian index Trencher)
Now think about your house and all the "considerations" you made before buying it!
The last number on my list is the most important. it will save you all a great deal of money once you discover what it is!
Hint 2: It is all about skis!
Hint 3 : The last value will serve you all your life once you know how to use it. In fact I predict that all skiers reading this thread will use this knowledge all their life and even thank you two for making me "reveal" this number. They will remember thre source of this value evry time they get new ski!
I promise both of you that once you will have correct values you will sleep very well at night!
Hint 3: Ellistine you are good! Now think what every skier must consider when buying a new ski!
I mean EVERY skier! Get that and the Mutix are yours!!!
Mike, think how proud yu were when you told me and the end of the ski year how you........ ( in figures)
I promise you all this figure you will never forget and you will use it for the rest of your skiing life! It will be called the Pavel index!
Once you know this figure and HOW TO USE IT correctly you become in your country the man to see! They will come to you!
They will ask you if.........!
Pavel, am I right in thinking that all these clues are for the 5th elusive number? See our problem?:?

I'm thinking that the number is not a nominal number but is part of a range of numbers (the Pavel Index).

Any of you Brits remember the 80's TV program 3-2-1 (Dusty Bin and all that)? Remember the riddle to be solved at the end?

For those that don't remember it or who were lucky enough not to be able to receive this program, here is an example riddle taken from Wikipedia (yes 3-2-1 is on Wikipedia!)

For example, a wishbone brought on by Sonny Hayes came with the clue "Take one that never changes, add a pub and a precious stone, bring them all up-to-date, and now you're on your own", which the contestants rejected hoping it referred to Dusty Bin. Rogers explanation of the clue was: "'Take one that never changes', well that could be Dusty Bin which of course is where you might throw a wishbone. 'Add a pub and a precious stone', well that doesn't point to Dusty. 'Bring them all up-to-date, and now you're on your own'. Well what about the wishbone? Sonny said 'a large wishbone', so what might a large wishbone come from? Something larger than a chicken. Turkey maybe? Now 'one that never changes' is a constant, a pub can also be an inn, there's a lot of precious stones but how many go with 'constant inn'? How about opal? Yes, Constantinople, up-to-date, the pride of Turkey, you've rejected the 3-2-1 holiday!"

I think you'll agree this riddle is obvious compared to Pavels Corker!

P.S. I'm open to receiving PM's if anybody works out the answer (I'd send you a picture of me skiing on them in Austria next January in the way of a thankyou)

Technology for you. I'm on a sunbed by a hot tub in a hotel in Cornwall reading this damn thread on my mobile phone!

i've pretty much resigned myself to not getting these skis (anyway I like my skis) and it's lovely not to have to be constantly thinking about numbers.

each time Pavel gives us another hint I get even more confused!

still it's single handedly kept this forum functioning these last few weeks!

when I get home i'll have another read of pavels hints but at the moment i'm baffled.

We seldom take advantage of the features of where we live. It is the same here
I've seen very little of the UK. I've never been East of London nor North of the Lake Districts. Last summer I bought a new Cabrio car so at some point I want to do a summer time tour of the UK. The trouble is I end up using all my Holiday during the winter (for obvious reasons). I currently have 4 out of my 26 days of Holiday left that need to last me until 31st of December!
When do you leave for Cornwall
Tomorrow 7am  - a bit too early for me.

I just noticed on a map of NS that there's a town called Truro - named after Truro in Cornwall I should imagine. Perhaps you're fractionaly Cornish Mike!

Sorry Mike, it was me having a little dig at our Cornish friends not you! A large group of Cornish people want Cornwall to be it's own independent country. Not sure quite how viable that would be. It's certainly a long time since tin mining was a big earner. They are however, planning to create quite a large artificial ski slope down there - with green snowflex to reduce the visual impact on the area. I find it quite hard to imaging skiing on green snow, either real or false. Should be good though.

So you've never been to Cornwall then?

Whoops, must not insult the Cornish, even if they do like to insult the English. Infact it was a Cornishman who got me into skiing in the first place by marrying a friend of mine and having the ceremony in Austria.

Well I'm completely baffled by it all.

I'm off to Cornwall for a couple of days and I expect all this cleared up by the time I get back!

Yeah, I had that one earlier but I don't think it fits with the house buying 'considerations'. I think compared to the two band rise in council tax that I hadn't 'considered' , the month I bought it seemed irrelivant.
