There's a chairlift in St Anton that does cause a sharp intake of breath as you come up on a steep arrete, with nothing but precipitous drops on either side! Makes that Alpe D'Huez thing look like a lift for babbies!

I'd hail Eurosport if they did something about ski summariser John Clark. He never knows when to shut up and let the pictures do the talking (as the best commentators do!). John, please put a sock in it occasionally!

Thanks all - didn't really agonise over it as it was the only sane and sensible thing to do.

However, this afternoon after carrying out a little research online and a few telephone calls to Austria, I'm even happier. The cost of the airport-resort transfer is being refunded, and I can switch my flight to later in the season for just £35. I've not paid for the hotel yet and was able to cancel with no penalty.

All in all, pretty content with what could have been a touch miserable!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with Skifun.

Ski insurance is not an option; it's essential.

I have a small combination skilock that cost less than £10; definitely worth it for a little bit of peace of mind. And when I do get to the slopes this season, with a new pair of Rossignol Experience 88s, I will most certainly be using it to secure them - wherever and whenever!

Today I've decided to cancel my January 4 ski trip; despite intensive physio, not certain the achilles tendon injury is going to be up to it by then. :cry:

Much more sensible to postpone until March, I think!

So no more webcam/lack of snow anxiety for a little while yet! :)
