I was meant to be in Solden this week, but had to cancel due to slow recovery from an achilles tendon injury.
Was feeling the pangs of disappointment until I looked at the website today and saw storms that have closed all but two nursery slope lifts. So just a little bit relieved I'm not there at the moment! ) The good news is that I'm booked for the first week of March and recovery is right on track! |

Most interesting. Thank you.

Well done, Trevor! I've found the queues at both Zurich and Geneva airport railway stations to be fairly short - and the staff speak brilliant English, of course. The machines, too, are easy to negotiate - although one did eat my odd-shaped MINT credit card once!

Those pictures take me back...haven't been to Cervinia since the very early 1980s - just before suits like yours were all the rage!

I really enjoy travelling to the Swiss resorts by train - all part of the pre-holiday planning excitement and the holiday fun when I get there. The SBB and its many associated local railway companies are extremely reliable and efficient. And by using early and late flights, skiing on arrival and departure days has been the norm, rather than the exception, However, please remember that in English it's a railway station and not a train station (unless you are an American, of course!) :)

Enjoy the Sarenne - remember it flattens out into a path after the first quarter or so - very important to keep a bit of pace, otherwise you'll grind to a halt (like all the snowboarders do!)

The hard-pressed licence fee won't pay for it, when there's ballroom dancing on a Saturday night eating up the budget!

No, it's a holiday. Do what you want to do - and enjoy yourself. If that means a relaxing day, then so be it! Over the years, I've taken the odd afternoon off, particularly on a two-week trip.
