holiday prices warning

I usually go home for xmas, but this year they are charging 1k for two people to fly to Portugal, same flights in February will cost me £130 (already booked). This was with the same company.

Prices this winter will be pretty bad.

Kabeza your post sounded a lot like spam, that's why you got those answers.

If I were you I'd gather the money from all the guys who are going as soon as, then I'd contact the hotels and play them up against each other to get the best price possible, negociate stuff like free breakfast free meals, and pay the deposit to guarantee the place, I'd even look into those with only about 50 rooms, so you make sure the hotel is only for you guys.

You are at home, look outside the window and the weather is giving his ugly face, its cold, not too cold, but cold enough to make you wear a jumper. You hate this mid term between beach and slopes, and only wish you had a remote control that would enable you to fast forward time straight into that week of the year where you carve turns in the white stuff.

Well now there’s hope… Wii has launched a game called Family ski, (which I bought this weekend), it’s fantastic you will need to register yourself with tons of characters to choose from, then head to the ski school, you will learn how to skate, stop, plow, parallel turns, carving… the lot.

This game is addictive and with the wii board you can turn right and left, but even if you don’t have the board it’s still lots of fun, so much that my OH who doesn’t really likes games wanted to stay up all night, trying to find the little guy who is check point 3, then there’s tons of people for you to talk to, you bump into them and fall over. Most of the characters will have tasks for you and they also take pictures of you while skiing in your latest gear that you just bought from the ski shop.

With 10 tracks with different difficulty you are sure to have something for you, that being moguls, ice, powder or just breeze between the white covered trees.

This is not a speed game with lost of races this is a game for you to enjoy and spend the time while you waiting for the real stuff. Well I’m off now going to search the little man, and maybe get my picture taken while I’m doing an air.

Sorry no boarders here...

Helmet / Ski Bag

My experience with cases and bags (i travel with my bass quite a lot) a hard case is not always the best option, they seem to be better in cases when your stuff might get crushed, but a well padded bag, is much better in my opinion.

1st is lighter
2nd, you usually have tons of little pockets where you can stuff your things
3rd if you drop it the padding acts as a shock absorber and your skis don't suffer as much, like they would in a case. A case to be really good, would have a strong hardshell, will weight a ton, and inside would have a way to keep the skis thight and secured and wouldn't let them bump against each other. Is it worth it. I don't think so. If you can find a bag with a sheet of some hard matterial between the padding that's the best of both worlds.
