I went to kitzbuhel on a school trip (I'm a teacher) and the pupils loved it, very beautiful town centre and great, varied skiing over a big area
Plus great pubs etc if you get the chance

Very similar ski to the Neo but for ladies.

I thought the neo was for ladies?! ) ) :D :D
Honestly the drive to Bormio is 90% in tunnels-big wide motorway tunnels. Just take signs for lecco or you'll end up going to scenic route-lovely past lake como but takes ages!
Make sure you take your swimming trunks to visit the Roman baths and def try and visit 'la pozza' its a natural outlet from the Roman baths so is the same volcanic water but free!
You'll enjoy la Rocca for lunch-pizza and a beer for under 10euros! If you're into off piste skiing just look right on your way up to 3000m
i could go on all night, i hope you enjoy it!

Tony_H wrote:There is absolutely nothing I can honestly say I hate about skiing. Ok there are a few things we all moan about a bit, but hate? Come on.

People moan about putting their boots on in the mornings - keep them warm and they slip on much easier. If you can't get your fit straight in you're doing something wrong.

I prefer not to have to walk far to get a lift, but its all part of the scene if you have to or jump on a bus. Theres a sense of excitement every morning for me no matter what I'm doing or where I am.

I do have a dislike of queuing for lifts, which is why I'm always up early to get up and away before any crowds, or why I always ski at non peak weeks avoiding holiday periods.

Boarders? No, I don't hate them at all. Ok theres banter, but you have to respect each other. A good boarder off piste looks amazing. HOWEVER I do get annoyed when they sit right over the brow of a hill right across the slope. Why do they do that? Thats when they get a sharp turn and plenty of snow across their backs

I don't like it when whoever i am skiing with wants to finish early, but I usually end up doing a few runs on my own if thats the case.

I don't even mind packing, its all part of the fun, even coming back. Its a precise military operation packing the ski bags anyway.

Coach journeys up mountain roads.....for the spectacular views you get, why not?

I guess the only thing that really gets me down is coming home and knowing someone else is out there on the snow. But I dont hate it. I just come on here, or look on webcams, or read books, etc etc.

You lot all know what I mean, you've all got the same illness anyway 8)

I think we have disagreed over quite a few things over the years tony but this, I wholeheartedly agree with ALL your points!

Yeah we might moan about a few things but it's all worth it for that fresh cold air on the first run
Ah ok well you will have a great week i think-i was talking to friends last night and it looks beautiful.

Have you been before? If not and you want to ask anything send me a pm-know quite a few hidden spots for either off piste, relaxing or nice food

very jealous

You know when you get snow and ice built up on the sole of your boots and they become difficult to lock into your skis. Well this instructor was reaching the class the scrape/kick them hard against their bindings to remove it before retrying to click in.

Surely that's not good? I spent a lot of cash on my skis and I'm not going to kick hell out of them, especially the most mechanical and safety conscious parts.

Am I being silly?

Do you do this

It is much the same as uncliping your binding with your ski, it can only cause damage

you must be doing it wrong!
If you are just driving to bormio you won't need snow tyres-straight up the motorway through the tunnels. If going to oga, Santa caterina or livigno def get some but get them in tirano.
Are you going out for the English champs? I worked there for a year 2 seasons ago and regularly drove the airport run.
You really only NEED snow tyres going to livigno
