Iphone the only way for me now.

Vodafone 25MB per day free usage abroad and call costs capped at 75p, basically a connection charge, the rest of the usaage off the normal tarif.

Those of you with ipones don't forget you can switch the data push to manual and the email content you can exclude images which reduces the amount downloaded hugely. If the Cellular Data is switched off then email etc. restricted to WiFi access.
There seems to be 2 options for the children

Skischule Kirchberg Aktiv OR Skischule Kirchberg

Aktive seem to be based by lifts that access more skiing area linking over to Kitzbuhl and the other on the Gaisberg area which has very limited skiing. The 2 areas are a bus ride apart so awkward for adults to ski a more extensive area whilst kids are in lessons and then meet the kids for lunch if Skischule Kirchberg is the best option.

With the other families going we will probably do a 3 hour private lesson for them, 6 in the group (as it no more expensive)so we can spend the afternoons with them, instead of the group lessons that are 2 hours morning until 11:30am then resume after lunch at 1:30pm for another 2 hours. Great value but part of the family ski trip is to ski with the kids but also enough time for the adults to have a bit of a blast around elsewhere.

Has anyone any knowledge/experience of the 2 ski schools that might help make a decision?

Thanks
Definately echo Courchevel, perfect for learning and being able to ski together after the lessons

Wife, now non skier due to back problem learnt there and so did my youngest daughter, 6 at the time.

Used the Magic ski school they were excellent though there is a BASS there as well.

If you stayed in 1650 then the hotel du golf has all the spa/swimming pool etc. and is slightly cheaper than 1850.

Bus service up to 1850 really good or have your lessons at 1650 as there is a New Generation ski school there and easy to ski up to 1850 and back.

Would ski 1850 though with a learning youngster though, loads of routes and little humps and bumps made to keep it interesting and fun.

Driving for the first time this year to Austria, Kitzbhul.

The cheapest I could find flights for Feb Half-Term was £1500 and then needed transfer which was prabably another £200 to £400 return for 4 people.

Driving no brainer, chunnel about £150 and then 1600 mile round trip (13hr Drive time without stops) 400 to a tank £70 to fill plus an extra tank because of queques waiting, engine running for no particular reason other than defrost the screen, then that makes £500.

Overnight stop on way £100.

Still much cheaper or am I getting it totally wrong!!!!

Oakleys (choose your frame)with a Persimmon lens.

Found very good in low light and gives good definition.
Snow socks

I have a Merc and in last years weather it was hopeless, not sure the snow socks would have made any difference to be honest.

Someone I know has some for his Audi and says they work okay but wasn't signing their praises.

Having been snowed in in Germany the year before and taken around Munich to a hotel in driving snow in a Merc, why would winter tyres not be any good?

Probably the wrong sort of snow here!!!

A high percentage of cars in Germany were rear wheeled drive Merc's or Audi's they didn't seem to have an issue every year.

Got it covered this year, picked up a fairly inexpensive 4X4 X-Trail and will be driving it to Austria in Feb 2012, so got some snow chains for £30, so need to practice putting them on!

It was a North Face Outlet at Bicester Village in Oxfordshire.

I live local and pop in and out all the time and sometimes you get lucky with the Helly Hansen outlet and North Face outlets there. Used to be a Tog24 as well but that moved a little way up the road I have just found out, which is great for socks and the kids stuff.

Just got the OH a nice shell jacket from TOG24 for £19.99 reduced from £59.99.

I'm pretty much sorted at the moment so haven't been in there for a month or so so don't know if North Face have the gloves this year and at the same price.

Have tried many different pairs and now have 2 firm favourites

Hestra - When really cold, think they are called Army leather gloves. Do find them too warm for me at times but if you like toastie hands definately worth the money. Got them on-line for about £60 in the end.

North Face Montana - When a little warmer, but to be honest these would do for all conditions, just found a pair at an outlet store for £15 so couldn't say no!

Hopefully will last quite a while now as long as I don't keep slicing them open with the ski edges.
