It's snowing there at the moment and keeping an eye on the area as we have just decided to stay in Kirchberg in the middle of March for 5 days.

Stayed in Westendorf 3 years ago and the snow wasn't great but they manage the pistes really well and make snow like made and move about what they have to keep.

Westendorf is a great base to go over towards Soll or Kitz and you have to experience Gerry's Bar for Apres

ITALY CHAMPOLUC CATERED CHALET / HOTEL
Started by Rookie-Skier in Ski Accommodation WANTED, 7 Replies, discussing Champoluc
I think a company called snow secrets do catered chalets in Champoluc but not near the lifts as the hotels have the prime positions and the hotel du Chapoluc the easiest of them all as already mentioned.

Basic twin room accommodation, food really good, friendly, nice bar for the evening but best of at the bottom of the main gondala in the morning and almost ski into the ski locker room coming back
Ski gloves - leather

Agree OldAndy - Have Hestra's myself with wrist cuff and suits me. Bought them after speaking with an instructor in Austria, and loads of them use them and not been disappointed.

These gloves I am sure will have a market place but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so I am sure they will have some takers, but with lots of things once you find something that suits you, you tend to stick with it.

Ski Boots

Although you don't seem to get "shin bang" there seem to be a lot of products out there for that and they fill the void around the shin/calf and boot

One of them is called "shintronic" and is a neoprene sleeve to fill the void arond the shin/calf to allow the boot to fit better

Might be the solution but think they are around £45/50 so the cut up thick sock sounds like all you need as you havn't got any discomfort.
Did a 30 odd mile circuit around PDS on 1 day of a short trip, based in Morzine.

Took the super morzine up to Avoriaz and then took in Chatel, Morgin and a couple of other villages I can't recall right now.

Apart from having to walk across the road in Morgin and a short bus ride in Chatel I think, the rest is all lift linked with loads of varied high terrain.

Going back for another short trip at the beginning of Feb

Chickened out of the Swiss Wall as the entry wasn't looking great for me, though 1 guy did it whilst we had a coffee stop at the top.
Where to get my boots from

Profeet in London another option as I understand that they are similar to Solutions4feet in Bicester, which would be my choice for convenience and of course reputation from comment on here, but getting to Bicetser may not be the preference.

I will go there for my next set of boots as my Ellis Brigham experiance was a joke, 4 years and 4 different sets of boots to get the right fitting boots. Came down 1.5 in size from where I started after supposidly measuring feet and doing shell checks.Didn't consider changing boot makes as length got smaller as volume around the foot got smaller.

I am mutch wiser now and will get better advice next time its not worth the painful days I have had skiing looking for the next lift so I can unclip to releive problems and have so much pain 1 trip I was popping ibuprofen like smarties.

Live and learn and hopefully our experiences mean others don't go through the same, if only I knew about sites like this before!!!!
Ski Theft

Not had a theft but the same "taken wrong ski's sceario" with a group I was away with 3 years ago and the only time I have ever experienced it, though we do tend to mix ski's even though they are rentals just so you are not stuck miles away from anywhere without ski's.

We were away as quite a large group of 20 and we had all split up during the day and on this day in Champoluc we all met for a late afternoon Hot Choc/Coffee in a mountain hut so we could ski the last few runs together.

We were the last to leave the hut and everyone clicked in except one who was walking up and down, saying ok who's the funny bugger and hidden my ski's.

It became apparant that someone had taken the wrong set and actuallty exchanged their own ski's for a set of rentals.

boot size the same so managed to click in and ski back to town.

The guy took the ski's to the rental shop where we hired from to explain and there is this irate French man accusing someone of stealing his brand new ski's

Probably too many vin Chaud's, although the ski colour similar the make, length and shape totally diffrent.
