Looking at prices to rent from Geneva it now looks like cars from the French side are considerably more expensive than from the Swiss side. Add winter tyres and a Vignette and it extortion.
I'll be getting transfers this winter. |

This sounds like a great trip. The Planibel is a great spot, just across the road from the ski area and the food is excellent.
I love La Thuille and will probably be back again in March next year. |

I've skied Cervinia twice now, both times in December with lovely empty slopes so my impression is of wide open groomed pistes. I'd imagine like any resort the slopes are more difficult when it's busier or when there is more fresh snow.
I'm just back from Mayrhofen which was great but some days with heavy snow and poor visibility I would have much prefered to be cruising the relaxed pistes of Cervinia. |

Great report as ever Tony.
Cervinia is a lovely place and considering the skiing is relatively timid I still think it's a good resort to spend a few days. |

My little experience of Austria is not great and I wouldn't have picked Mayrhofen but I'm sure we will be ok. There seems to be a big drop in temperature in the next few days so fingers crossed for more snow.
I've only had one disaster of a ski holiday with no snow about ten years ago so now I always go high when picking my resorts. I think France is the place to be this season. |

Sounds great.
What are conditions like there now Andy? I'm there in 11 days. |

I'm sure if I was in my mid twenties I'd love the place but as others have said it just looks far to pretentious for my liking. A few good beers in a good bar after a day on the slopes is perfect and if it has a pool table that's a bonus.
