Anything less than low light seems to defeat all quality.

Any camera in low light will suffer with quality as they have to increase the sensitivity of the sensor to compensate, this is known as the ISO value.
Higher ISO's result in high noise levels, grainy images.
The only way around this is longer shutter speeds and a tripod but neither of these are practical with a sports camera.
You can get some good stills in normal daylight but forget it for anything else, theye are not built for that type of photography im afraid.

We stayed in Belle and loved it. My fav run was the Mont Blanc which goes on and on, about 60 piste markers if i recall.

Delicious and a great lunch time refuel. That's what Ian somewhat bizarrely refers to as cat litter with an egg on top.

And he eats frogs legs and snails ;-)

I can't visit France with out eating Snails Mmmmmmm

Really?

I usually try to forget how much I've spent if we have to eat out in resort, or up the mountain, because it's generally far more than I want to remember!

Ah, this exchange shows the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is doing a spreadsheet to show what your costs are; wisdom is, yes, trying to forget it !

It seems spreadsheets are quite common in ski trip planning

Snapzz, both my daughters went on a coach trip in Icyland to see the Aurora Borealis nearly 6 weeks ago and they said the weather was absolutely freezing, so I don't think it would be much fun in a tent - you'd need full polar gear or you'd end up like Scott
