Well, i am sure you more experienced guys may have a giggle as i couldn't push the finaces too far and stretch out to the 'north face'.

The Mrs and i took a trip to 'Mountain Warehouse' where they are doing a full set for £100. Thats Jacket, Trousers, Socks, Goggles and Gloves.
Even my limited knowlege tells me that the gloves, socks and goggles are not that great but the jacket and salopettes look good to me. Both are waterproof, fleece lined and have more pockets (iPod, phone, liftpass, goggles) than i have ever seen. Has vents under the arms too, snow skirt (not sure about that). The jacket has a small pocket on the inside right at the bottom that is see through? Is that for the lift pass? Do you just flick the bottom of the jacket up to show it or something?
Trousers are waterproof with the bib and braces, is that good?

As i said the goggles, gloves and socks look cheap and i intend to use them as emergency spares and buy some better quality ones.

I got my base layers from trespass last week. Two full sets for £25 which seem a good buy.

Best of all my jacket is orange! i love it.

Just bought my jacket and trousers today! Yay!

Although with this weather the jacket may jet a run out sooner than Jan!
Hmmmm Physically fit??? Bugger!
Well i have shed three stone this year so i guess i am better placed than i were last season!
Thanks everyone for your detailed and enthusiastic responses......I AM SOOOOOOO EXCITED NOW!!!!!!!! I'm gonna be like bond in no time!
Over the years i have taken part in some great, extreme, sports and have over 100 Skydives under my belt (had to give up for various reasons, mainly female) but nothing has aroused me more than the thought of blasting down the mountains.

Thanks again
Thanks for all the tips guys, they are all appreciated and noted.

I have written down all the little things, such as plasters, so as our holiday is not ruined by something so trivial as a blister.

I am so excited even tho i am soooo terrified of flying. I haven't flown in years so it shows just how much i want to hit the slopes.

Can i ask if all the children are kept in separate classes? My daughter is an only child and it does worry me that she may be unhappy being away from us especially if we disappear off up the mountain without her.

Thanks again

Jon

Ps: AllyG- we are going to arinsal.

Hi Guys,

As you can see i am new here so please be gentle on me!

I am 36, my partner is 43 and we have a daughter of 9 and I have always wanted to ski. Ever since i was a child i longed to ski high up in the mountains but never seemed to get round to it. But now i have decided it is now or never. I have managed to convince my mrs that we would all love it and have just booked a week in Arinsal for us all.

I booked 1 week, flying into Toulouse from January 10th 2010. I have also booked a beginners package so we get 5 days of ski school, lift passes and equipment hire. So i am guessing we are all set.?
Clothing wise we are taking Jackets, Salopettes, some thin fleeces and 2 sets of base layers. Is that enough? I bought my base layers today and was wondering if 2 sets are enough for a week? Do they get smelly? Do you wear you standard undies underneath them?
I also need to get some goggles and socks. Are the Ski tubes you see hanging in TK Max good enough? I don't really worry about the price of things i just dont want to regret being stuck on a mountain wishing i had bought something else.

We are really looking forward to it now but some things are starting to worry me:

The flight (i hate flying)
The transfer, its a long one!
LACK OF SNOW!

Will there be plenty of snow in january? I have been looking at pics online and a lot show just strips of snow in what looks like green mountains. I assume these are made by the snow canons. I just want it to be perfect as i really don't want a lifetimes wishes to be dashed!

Jon

Ps: we are staying at the poblado apartments.....hoping they are ok.
