That's not a bobble hat as it doesn't have a bobble - just a mass of different coloured fibres! A bobble is round....
Any of the major brands, stocked by reputable shops, will be worth considering. The key thing is to find a fitter who takes the time and trouble to explain everything and find the best boot for you, irrespective of brand, price. colour etc.

And it is time to say adios to the one-clippers; there's a good reason why people in the ski industry refer to rear entry boots as 'Wellingtons'!!!!

My fear when booking a chalet is not the presence of 'poshoes' but low-grade herberts who 'swear, fart and spit'. :)

Once stayed in chalet in Val D'Isere that was mainly occupied by this 'Godfather' type figure and his 'crime family'. Not very pleasant dinner conversation and this gang weren't really interested in skiing at all; a kind of glorified stag group summed up by one of them who told me Scotland was much better for a skiing holiday because you could go shooting instead of to the slopes!

Does anyone else think North Face has become the modern equivalent of Rodeo and Nevica?!!!!

I don't know much about Nevica apart from the fact that that blue/green combo he has been wearing is going cheap in sportsdirec shops, which isn't usually a good sign.

Rodeo was C&A's own brand, and IMO complete garbage, but served a purpose back in the day.

So I'm not quite sure what you mean about North Face stuff. I've had quite a bit of it over the years now, and currently ski in a North Face outer shell, or a different softshell, and have a pair of North Face sallos as well. I think its well made, good quality, long lasting and fashion conscious. They do, of course, also do a lot of mid range stuff which you see people using as all weather jackets back here in the UK - lots of black waterproofs etc, but again decent quality.

Its also not cheap to buy, whereas the 2 other brands you mentioned are.

Personally, I think North Face in the main is a good buy. Not the cheapest, but look at stuff like Dare2B, Trespass or 5 Seasons if you want cheap and not so good quality. I'd buy North Face gear again and again personally.

Have you had particular bad experience with some of their stuff?

No bad experience, indeed I have a perfectly functional North Face shell jacket, which I sometimes ski in on warmer days.

I just meant, that like Rodeo and Nevica, NF was so common nowadays! :)

That's why I stayed at the truly excellent - and good value - Hotel Du Glacier in La Thuile, lovely hotel and perfect for the skiing.
Perhaps it's time to trade in the old rear entry one-clippers. Get some properly fitted boots from an accredited specialist and, with a lesson or two, you'll find your skiing is revolutionised

I didn't mean anything to do with Russian clientele!

I thought the Planibel was a soulless, monolithic slab of a building, reminiscent of an apartment block in Potsdam or Belgrade!
