Gooseh! Brave! Can't help with location or accommodation suggestions I'm afraid but something did occur to me when I read your post. As there will be 20 young people I'd be very careful of SC as I can bet some people won't pull their weight. Also, for 20 people it would be hard to take enough food with you and it could get expensive. As the party leader most of the catering/cleaning up will probably end up falling to you, so I reckon somewhere that offers half board would be best for you. And someone has to do all the shopping when they'd rather be drinking! Be careful of people pulling out of the trip as well - that inevitably happens. Make sure they pay a decent deposit and allow yourself plenty of time to get final payments in. Good luck. I bet there'll be someone along with more advice. :D |

I didn't say that when we did the trip we were also heading for Puy. It's a great resort - completely unpretentious, the friendliest ski resort I've been to in France for sure.
The skiing there is good, though not extensive and you can also get a day in some other resorts nearby - we chose Serre Chevalier which was fun. Are you beginners? If so you probably won't need the option of an alternative resort. We stayed in the monstrosity that looks like a cruise liner in the mountains, but we were lucky as we got a large apartment for 5 of us and weren't cramped. You can ski right back to the door which is good although as it was 21st April when we came home it was more like water skiing! We really enjoyed it there, the waterfalls over that pass are definitely worth a good photo for the album. I hope you have a great time. I have fond memories of the place. |

Hi,
I did this trip in April about 7 years ago. We had no problems as it was not snowing at the time and the temps were fairly warm...However, I've seen some of the forecasts for next week and it seems it could snow. The trip from Grenoble to Puy takes you through La Grave, Serre Chevalier and Briancon. It is a long twisty route through Col du Lautaret mountain pass. I would make sure I knew how to put those chains on before I left the airport. I don't want to alarm you, I bet it'll be fine, but forewarned is forearmed. We had no problems at all as I said and it's a stunning drive. Enjoy! |

Tomorrow.....Am rendezvous- ing with a chap who wants to buy some of my children's outgrown ski gear.
Hoping to raise a little cash to go towards next weeks trip. Am also going to get all my gear out and start anticipating our trip - with hopefully some decent snow and low temps. :D |

I am pleased to see this forecast too.
Taking a couple of 14 year olds to learn to snowboard next week and I'd heard the snow was well due a freshen up. It is my daughter's friends 1st time and you can tell her parents don't ski, her Mum said - 'oh well if there's no snow' (there was never any chance of that) 'you can always find something else to do!' NO! Rather not go than find a public swimming pool! You all know where I'm coming from..... |
|
I hope so....Off next weekend- had to wait all season and the snow is tired. It seems to depend on the forecast you look at - all on my side except Metcheck which is showing decreasing levels of snow by day..... :( Think I'll avoid that site... ) |
