Official Police Caution
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 26 Replies
Hi ,

When you consider the Met alone has over 2,000 Constables/Officers serving with convictions for Drug's use and supplying of , illegal possession and use of firearms , fraud , perjury , perverting the course of justice ,ABH , GBH ,arson , theft and destruction of evidence, robbery etc the Police as an organization are pretty much pointless ( never tell a copper if you are going on holiday though , if you don't want to get robbed ).

Although a Official Caution goes on your records and can be a problem when applying for loans , jobs etc it shouldn't be a worry but if in doubt check , just don't tell them when you are going.

snow train

Hi All,

I've had an apartment in Bourg-St-Maurice since 2003 , and this year I/we are looking at the train for early March for a change, I must admit I quite like the idea of getting onto the train and then not having to do anything for the next 9 or 10 hours or so....

....certainly seems better than waiting around at airports etc so will see how it goes :D

Hi Ian,

Hope you had a good Christmas and wish you all the best for the New Year ahead...

That sounds an excellent package with AXA for £28 , I will look into that, with some holiday/motor insurance or insurance included with some car hire there always seems to be something lacking but that sounds a good buy, cheers.

I was just looking at a few sites like europcar.com , sixt.com , victoriacars.com , herz.com and in all of them is cheaper to hire in France and the diference is huge. Can anybody tell me why?

Hi ,

I agree you do have more freedom with a hired car as opposed to a scheduled transfer, I always hire with Autoeurope and have found them to be excellent , they only go from the French side at Geneva , but 6 -7 days hire for an economy diesel ( Opel Astra , Peugeot 207 etc ) ranges from as little as £80 and have never paid more than about £180 + fuel , which for me driving from Geneva to Bourg-St-Maurice and back with a weeks tootling around the mountains during my trip the fuel costs about £35 - £45 on average...so not too bad.

Hi ,

Yes I think that's the way , if you don't take the A410 - Annemmasse lane at the next toll north of Annecy you get put onto a new ish road which has been cut through the mountain and straight back onto the Swiss motorway part which is expensive for just 3 miles of motorway.

Heading back the A410- Annemmasse way, as long as you see the silver factory with SAMU in red , and the Telipherique du Saleve, you are on the right road then just keep a look out for the exit marked A411.

It took a few journey's to get the right route, I keep meaning to find a small dash mountable video camera and record both the route out of Geneva and the route back into Geneva that way then post it on Youtube for people.

Hi again,

You should be able to get a shared private transfer from around £280 , you could try BensBus , I used them just before Christmas ( usually hire a car but thought I would let someone else do the driving for a change ) they charge £73 p/p return from Geneva.

Going ack again in ate January.

Not a bad suggestion actually , spent a few fab times in Tignes staying at the Home Club self catering apartments, and up in Val Claret on a couple of occasions, seeing as January is low season the slopes should be relatively quite even with the extra development over the years......good call, only trouble I can think of for first timers is the visibility if the weather closes in.
