Me and my fiancée are planning our first ski holiday together for later this month(Jan). I have done 1 day tuition + 2 days skiing in Scotland and she has just done the 1 day of indoor tuition, so both are beginners and will be joining ski school for the holiday.
We have currently narrowed down our choice to the following 3 French resorts; Morzine, Les Deux Alpes or La Plagne 1800. Apres ski is reasonably important to us but most importantly is some good quality skiing/snow (and tuition).
Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences they are willing to share on any of these 3 resorts?
Many Thanks

Hello and welcome to our little world, you've come to the right place for advice (mostly). And good luck with the first ski holiday, hope you both have a great time.
I have only been to La Plagne out of your three choices, and as a seasoned skier I found it covered all my needs, hopefully you will get to explore once you have found your ski feet.
I can't actually remember much about La Plagne apart from it being a bit of a concrete jungle and the bobsleigh apres ski trip you can do from there (by coach).
Someone with more useful information will be along shortly, just wanted to bump it up so people can reply.
Happy sking!

All decent resorts with good snow at the moment (as has most of the Alps to be fair)
Ive never done any of them first hand but know peeps who have and La Plagne is somewhere I want to try at some point as Paradiski is supposed to be great.
Whereever you go then I'm sure you will both enjoy it - took the missus (then girlfriend) 7 years ago and she's so hooked that we go every year and she'd even consider giving up the sun rather than the snow if we found ourselves in a one or the other financial situation!

Any reason why Alpe D'Huez isn't on your list? If Les Deuz Alpes is then Alpe D'Huez should be too.

I've skied Morzine & Paradiski. Personally I would plump for Paradiski. Both areas have plenty of skiing - although I think Paradiski is better. I don't really like the Morzine area - (Avoriaz etc -found them too busy and protracted to get to the skiing areas themselves.. also tainted by bad seasons- it rained both times when I've been which makes my opinion slightly biased as this year there seems to be plenty of snow everywhere). From memory the Bellecote & Plagne Centre are concrete type- the rest has been quite nicely built.

Hi,
Many congratulations to you both ,welcome to the wonderful world of skiing and welcome to the J2SKI site, as February is French school holidays try and book you trip so you don't straddle the end of the month and the beginning of Feb as many resorts will be very busy in Feb.
You could also try looking at the following Serre Chevaliere , Les Arcs , La Rosiere , Alpe D'huez etc.
For a good operator take a look at Ski Miquel ,before I brought my apartment I used them on many occasions and they offer excellent catered packages and pretty good prices.

Hi again,
Forgot to add...snow will not be a problem this January in the majority of the French Alps with near record snowfalls already, some resorts have already had seasons snowfall already with more forecast for the middle and end of the month.

My first two ski holidays were in Tignes. People seem to not recommend Tignes for beginners but I thought it was super. There is a fantastic Ski Tranquil area ai lovely greens and a few blues between Tignes and Val disere. And on the other side of Tignes there are loads of nice blues.
Going ack again in ate January.
