Skiset, Performance ski hire choice?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 19 Replies
I just looked on the booking page and there was no option to pick your skis unlike many other resorts.

I dont think there is an actual skiset shop there as you will be hiring them from Ski & Board Margreiter. So my advice would be to ring up and ask

the alpe d'huez lift was very scary the first time I went on it. I didnt realise there was a big valley there I thought it was flat and just went straight across

What phone provider are you with the EU rates should be on their website

I am with 3 and it costs 10p to send a text when abroad and free to recieve. If your going to be sending 4 texts a day to meet up for 7 days that's only 28 texts or 2.80.

that seems to be the cheapest option for me
a few things I look for are
- Km of pistes
- transfer time
- Altitude
- ski in/ski out or distance from hotel to slopes
- weather it has a snowpark and good off piste
Your most spectacular fall ?

ok my most spectacular (not very) would have to be in Flaine last year. I was going back to the hotel for lunch so decided to go flat out down a red run so I didn't have to walk as far to the hotel. I managed to survive the steeper sections at top speed but when I was on the flat section I have no idea what happened but my right ski decided it wanted to ski off the right this caused me to roll and fall with both skis popping off and me rolling and sliding about 15m across the flat snow. Quite hurt my knee when I came to a stop. I then stumbled back up to my skis and slowly back to the hotel. My laziness cause me to walk about twice the distance :(

The fall I remember most is when I stopped mid slope just infront of a slow sign/banner to wait for someone. Without realising I started sliding backwards straight into the sign, I then ended up wrapped up and stuck in this slow banner unable to get up so had to wait in the middle of the slope wrapped up in the slow banner until my friend finally caught up and freed me

there's about 80cm forecast at mid station over the next 6 days :O however could be rain lower down especially in the lower resorts like morrilon and les carroz

conditions should be perfect in flaine for that week though

gopro HD Hero
helmet
lime green snow pants
