Thanks Ally,
For me it feels like terrible news - but trying to put it into perspective and calling it a 'bit (understatement) disappointing!' ) We're saving for a trip to Montana to visit family, and that will be expensive. We've skied at least once every year since '99 and this is the 1st year I've not looked forward to the winter. It must be because I've always had skiing to look forward. Hoping my next ski trip is to Austria - I fancy a change from France & Italy. Torturing myself looking at this forum though!!! |

Unless something financially great happens soon then the amount of sleeps I have this season depends on when it snows in the UK.
:( Edited to say IF it snows in the UK. |

It's probably a good thing you don't like going out if you go to France - last year we went to a bar and had one lager & one Magners - €12!!!!

For what it's worth - if I had the choice between Austria and France and the cost was about the same I'd choose Austria.
It's so much more fun in the evenings. We usually go to France because we drive and are tied to school holidays so can do it cheaper. Also - Saalbach is somewhere I would especially love to go. |

Sadly not this time.
He's done 4 seasons in total and now at 23 he's having to make some money - his dream is to make enough to move to the mountains full time. |

Marmite would be 1st on my list too, but I see you've got that one!
What I thought of was painkillers, medication. A few years ago in Chamonix my son had a throat infection. We weren't prepared and had to buy some painkillers. What we got were some kind of minty chewy ones which cost almost €4. Things like that are so much cheaper in our supermarkets and recognisable too. Have a great time, my nephew has done the last 3 seasons in Morzine and loves it. |

I asked my colleague about Foux -
She said it is a quiet place, suited to families. (Not many places I've been in France have exactly been rocking in the evenings though) As you said 2 hour drive from Nice. Said flights cheap to Nice in Winter which is a bonus. Lifts good. She is going to let me have the link to the website where she stays, there may be some things you haven't found out yet. Bit slow with the info sorry. Looks like you've found a bit out though. |
