I'm a woman and I nearly had to book a skiing holiday on my own this year as my partner didn't want to go so I threatened to go alone which did nt bother me at all, because I've been to sauze 4 times I have made a few friends and contacts and its such a friendly place loads of English live out there too! So what do you think guys???

Go for it !!!
Think of all the freedom of not having to ask/consider/work with/look after/argue with ...........

I go on my own sometimes, don't forget people on skiing hols tend to be there for skiing so you will instantly have something in common.

Biggest prob is the single room supplement issue. But there are usually deals outside of the main holiday (schools) periods.

What I do is phone one of the travel agents and ask who has deals with no single supplement going. (I use ski solutions but there are others).

If you want some company around then how about a big chalet hotel - not as risky to my miind as a small chalet but shares the camaraderie which you wouldn't get in a formal hotel.

Go for it !!

I agree about Falke - lovely.

Bought several pairs/types etc from these people.
http://www.specialistsocks.co.uk/

They tell you the thickness and length (another important point) for each type of sock. When I needed help on best for a size 13 their people on the phone were knowledgeable and helpful.

I suppose someone has to be obsessive about socks!

I got a pair of Hestra from Edge and Wax last year for £60 but they seem a lot more this year.

My previous pair that were cheap but really good and lasted ages were Trekwear - have a search around for some. Mine were a two part (liner came out) with waterproof shell.
I think it is just the quick comment or reply box that has the email notification on as default and this seems to override personal preferences.
The full write a reply button seems to take personal preferences.

Adders - can the tick box on the quick reply/comment box be turned of as default???

Totally agree with Adders - go to the shop when not too busy, be clear what sort of ski you would like but not necessarily exactly which one and have a chat.

Listen, make friends, ask what the shop guys and girls are enjoying skiing on........

Works for me.
:D

Last year got an unused pair of Salomon BBR 8.9's and this year a pair of Movement Jam ER (this years model), again first time on snow.

In my experience in France vouchers are used by employers to allow their staff to have lunch somewhere close to wherever they are working.

For example imagine how long it would take for a liftie on a remote chair to get back down to the resort to a canteen for their lunch?
Makes far more sense to have an arrangement where they eat close to "work" - pay by vouchers and the restaurant then bills the employer.

This used to happen in Les Arcs; staff could choose from a number of restaurant deals to go to for lunch and pay by voucher.
