Thanks guys, you have given me some confidence. Since my last trip was tainted by man flu i just don't want to make any mistakes with my next.
Thanks again all. |

Now i know this is 'one of those questions' that is really impossible to answer but i would like to ask your opinion, especially those experienced, on late march skiing.
I am now looking at W/C 23rd March for our second trip this year. Should i be restricting my search to high resorts or do you think i would be limiting myself needlessly? I have no experience of spring skiing, i have only been before the end of feb. I really fancy the budget 3V resort of La Tania but at 1400m i get a little worried. What do you think? |

Getting from 1600 to La Plagne is VERY easy and even first weekers shouldn't have any issues. Any of the two chairs out of 1600 will drop you on the Belvedere piste, which in any other resort would be a green, that will take you to 1800. From there you can take the Transarc to the mid station where the Plan Bois and Retour plan peisey will take you all the way to the VE. Both these pistes are very easy too, again would be green elsewhere. Returning is just as easy, pretty much all the blues above 1600, 1800, and Vallandry that traverse the mountain are very easy. Gollet is prob the easiest to return to 1600 on. |

I understand its all 'horses for courses' and the cost is very seductive but im not sure i could ever take that risk. "Olde World Charm" means 'third world' to me and i simply cant get my head beyond this especially when i watch the George Bar vid. http://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/12957.page |

You don't pay for the initial pass, its a thin cardboard version of the normal lift pass.
The usual procedure for beginners in Flaine is: 1) use the green runs & free lifts, 2) use a points card & gain confidence on the Petit Balacha (2 points per run) or the Telesiege des Gerats (also 2 points per run) 3) progress to the Grand Balacha (6 points per run) 4) finally move onto the Telesiege des Verds (10 points), Telecabine de l'Aup de Veran (12 points) or Telepherique des Grandes Platieres (16 points) Note the points cards are only valid for these lifts Not sure of the current prices but it is around: 12 points cost 10 Euros, 20 points 15 Euros, 40 points 28 Euros, 60 points 40Euros, 80 points 55 Euros. If you go over 36 euros in a day then you might as well by a day pass. Its a great system for beginners, Mrs snapzzz stayed on the points all week and i saved around 130 euros over a full pass that she would never use. Enjoy, i really liked Flaine. |

I think that link is actually for transfers to and from resort from the regional airports. The ADH/L2A flights are conducted by these guys. http://www.alpedhuez.com/en/winter/activities/all-activities-0?id=sitraACT781287 I don't think you can book well in advance as it is all weather permitting, Call them when you arrive in resort or just visit them at the altiport. |
