I need to take a couple of lessons to get back in the swing of things, before a spinal op last year I was a level 6/7 skier, now I don't know, nothing works the same as it did before!
I don't think I quite need to go down the adaptive route but I will need a couple of 121s with someone english speaking with some patience! Has anyone got any suggestions both for the school and instructor? Many thanks x |

Hi I have just been let down, female, 36, desperate for a snow fix, sooner the better, fairly low budget but not stingy, must be a short transfer from airport as sitting is not my strong suit! Could go from any london airport. :-) |

Hi Avi, welcome.
I am no expert in either medicine or snowboarding! A very close friend of mine had a stroke about 3 years ago, hers happened as a consequence of surgery on a her skull, it left her blind in one eye, that along with the weakness on one side means her balance is way off what it used to be. It strikes me that it would be normal for you to struggle to find your form on a snowboard again. Hopefully your enjoying yourself? I imagine you have impact shorts/knee pads etc so your falls don't bruise you up too much! Maybe a physiotherapist could help you? I'm guessing that post stroke you would have had functional PT, which would have been more concerned with getting you back to being independent instead of focused sports PT? Doing something like pilates could help, as it is good for core strength, flexibility and balance. Good luck x |

I'm not sure about the East but I'd be tempted to try to sell him on a road trip, you could start at Banff then head for Panorama, KH etc, the parkway has some fantastic views to take in along the way....
