Dolomities or any other good slopes in Italy - it must be ski in/out (or almost)

La Thuile is great, you also get a couple of away days on your lift pass to visit Pila/Courmayeur so might be worth considering doing that when the races are on. We went last year during the Special Olympics, crowding wasn't a problem and it was so lovely seeing the (mainly downs) youngsters having such a fab time, we went to watch their closing parade in the village, what a great experience.
The little butcher/Deli within the Planibel complex is great. Worth noting that swimming pool entry is free if you stay in the hotel but you pay if you self cater, they only allow proper swim wear so any males in your group need to take proper trunks not baggy beach shorts and swimming caps are mandatory unless you are bald! |

Courmayeur is pretty good for ski lessons (there were 6 in my group lessons and we all had fun and made progress) and ideal for short trips. The resort is quite expensive and actually works out cheaper to eat on mountain rather than off, I don't remember names of particular restaurants but the food was great pretty much everywhere, it did get busy lunchtimes so we got in the habit of doing coffee and pastries late morning but not having lunch until mid afternoon.. It was a few years ago when we went so I can't remember who we booked lessons through, but the school will be listed on their website. Have a great time and take extra camera batteries, you'll want to use them!

Why not book a couple of group lessons on the first couple of days? You'll refine your technique, learn a bit about the area and where is safe to ski for your level, plus, hopefully you'll meet a few like minded people who might want to ski with you on other days or after the lessons.

Whilst veggie fare is easily available in Italy can anyone recommend anywhere that stands out as providing great veggie friendly food? On or off slope. Thanks in advance.

Jacket/pants 4 years. Boots new this season. Goggles 10 years plus! Helmet new this season after I split my old one wide open in a nasty accident involving a metal pole.
Insulated gloves 10 years plus, I run hot so I've only ever worn proper gloves in January in Canada. I usually wear kids "magic gloves" from the pound shop although I always have proper gloves in my pocket just in case we get stuck on an exposed lift or the weather turns. I rent skis currently. |

Well worth looking at Sweden, we regularly go in April. Check out skistar.com for everything except flights.

Evo2 were very good a while back but I can't remember the name of the guy we had. You might be better off waiting for someone with more recent experience.
