Yay, I booked for Courchevel 1850 in March! So excited! I've been before, and am determined to go and try the black run I fell over on last time!!

Cervinia is the best for the area/skiers ratio. I've been during February half term week, and not once did I have to queue more than 20 seconds for a lift, or wait for a piste to clear as there were too many people.

I remember Gressoney being similar-ish, although slightly busier.

I stayed at Courchevel 1650 a few years ago and loved it!! I don't remember it being any more expensive than any other resort.

I still haven't booked my trip in March (too many options - still researching!), but Courchevel is now on the cards!

Yes, that's the one, where 155 died, and only about 10 people survived thanks to an ex fireman who told them to walk past the fire and go down the tunnel, rather than going up.

I get claustrophobic so hated that stupid train.

They sealed the tunnel up, and have replaced it with a gondola instead.

I've had the misfortune of two ski seasons with very little snow.

The first was to Zell Am See (Austria) in 1993 (I think - I was quite young!), and we had to get up at 5.30am to start queuing for this train that went through the mountain up to the glacier. Once up the top, the skiing was OK though.

Another year I went to Limone (Italy), and there was literally a few pistes open, all of which were sheet ice in the morning, and slushy by the end of the day. I think this was very late in the season though, and again, I was very young. The resorts did their best to put on other activities.

Since then, I've had great skiing every trip!

blinkng flip, £1300 you should have done with it and go to Portillo in Chile, for that money they will warm your boots with the smouldering embers of Mountain Gods. The skiing is not half bad either ;)

Sounds good!! :D

I've been saving hard last year, hence wanting a luxury holiday now! There's nothing quite like the satisfaction blowing your savings! I'm swaying to the club med ones... I quite like the look of the La Plagne one, although it's been 15 years since I last went to La Plagne!

 I do actually have family in Norfolk, so am well accustomed to their peculiar ways... (and in some areas, I do believe a translator is required???).

 Ouch, that is either a Mark Warner price, or during the half term holidays? When are you thinking of going?

Hoping to 6th or 13th March, as I prefer the slightly warmer weather and longer days in March, and this is outside UK and French holidays!

It was a Thomson price when I added on lessons, lift pass etc...

Currently looking at a Club Med one for about £1200pp which includes 4* hotel, full board, flights, transfers, lift pass, and lessons for 5 days.

I'm a creature of comforts so like my 4* hotels and nice food I'm afraid

I've looked at some of the links, but am nervous about booking flights separately, as if they get cancelled, then it can end up costing a fortune!! (As did happen to some friends of mine...!)

Thanks again for all your help! I'm currently looking through all the links.

We're in our early and mid(ish) 30s if that classifies as young?!?
