My ESF instructor actually taught me to fall!
We did falling practice on a steep bit of a red run, squatting down when standing still, then rolling head/shoulder first down the slope, then trying to swing our skis round (keeping feet/boots together) beneath us then dig an edge in to try and stop. Much easier on a soft snow piste than an icy one! |

I can't even think about next years trip any more, as I found out last weekend that there might be 3 of us, rather than just two next year i.e. I would have a 4 month year old in tow...!!! It's going to be a rather sober trip next week - we leave tomorrow!

I saw the Dubai one last October, and it's awesome! It's the size of about 3 footy pitches, one of the 5 runs is about 400m long, and it even has a chair lift! I hate to think how much the energy bills are!
I didn't have time to have a go in, but it's about £25 for a 2 hour session. My best mate lives there, so I said I'd take her daughter next time I visited. |

I think Travelex will give you €1.0688 per £1 at the moment, which is the best deal I can find :(

Could it not be arranged so that GB can be nearer the top i.e. medals per average cms of snow fall per year?

My mum will always recommend Cervinia, because it doesn't have too many difficult scary slopes (she doesn't do black runs, despite skiing for 20 years!), and is a very pretty village.
On top of that, all the hotels are quite small, so you rarely get school parties staying, which means that during half term week (when I went 2 years ago), the pistes and lifts were still quiet! For one year, it was worth swapping difficult black runs for wide empty pistes and no lift queues. I second the recommendation for Serre Che above though, and defintiely stay in Briançon. |

Cheers for replies.
I have a quicksilver jacket at the moment, which I've had for years (Xtra small mens one, hence was very cheap in the sale!), but even after washing it, it's looking really shabby and worn, so thought I'd get a new one. There's a Blacks in Oxford, but their range was very poor when I went a couple of weeks ago. Will see where my nearest Cotswold is. Definitely not minted!! I just remember seeing some great value jackets last year in Serre Che. |

Where are you getting your OH a new jacket from?? I looked everywhere last week and most shops seem to have removed their ski stock! Think I might buy a new one whilst I'm out in France.
